Soha was born to veteran Bollywood actress Sharmila Tagore and the late Nawab of Pataudi, Mansoor Ali Khan on October 4, 1978. Tiger Pataudi, as her father was known, was one of India's most successful cricket captains.
Soha's older brother is Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, and older sister Saba Ali Khan is a jewellery designer. -
Before venturing into Bollywood, Soha worked for the Ford Foundation and Citibank. Following in the footsteps of her mother and brother, Soha made her Bollywood debut in 2004 with the film Dil Maange More, which also featured Shahid Kapoor, Ayesha Takia and Tulip Joshi.
Sadly, the film tanked at the box office. -
In 2005, Soha was seen in Pyaar Mein Twist and Shaadi No. 1. The movies received an average response at the box office. In the same year, Soha played one her most critically acclaimed roles to date in the Bengali movie Antarmahal. She was praised heaps on her performance as a zamindar's traumatized and oppressed second wife who is attracted to a sculptor, played by Abhishek Bachchan.

Midnight's Children was Soha's only movie in 2012. Soha played the role of the protagonist's sister in this movie adaptation of Salman Rushdie's controversial novel.
The movie was screened at several international film festivals and was nominated for the Best Picture at the 2013 Canadian Screen Awards.
