Avataar girl turns 32

As American actress Zoe Saldana, who is also known as the Avataar girl now, turns 32, here's a look at her journey so far…

When she was 10-years-old, she and her family moved to the Dominican Republic, where they lived for the next seven years.

Zoe enlisted in a ballet class at one of the most prestigious dancing schools in the Dominican Republic.

After returning to New York at the age of 17, she began performing with theatre.

Her dance training coupled with her acting experience, helped her get her first role as Eva, the talented and headstrong ballet dancer in Center Stage (2000).

Zoe Saldana who was still doing theatre when she gained exposure in an episode of Law & Order (titled Merger) which first aired in 1999.

She left school after Center Stage, which led to appearances in the Britney Spears vehicle Crossroads (2002) and the comedy-drama Drumline (2002).

Zoe had her breakthrough role in Drumline.

She played the pirate Anamaria in the 2003 film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl

She has also appeared in a number of television shows and movies.

Zoe was seen in Steven Spielberg's The Terminal (2004) a comedy-drama film. The film was said to be inspired by the 18-year-stay of Mehran Karimi Nasseri in the Charles de Gaulle International Airport, Terminal I, Paris, France from 1988 to 2006. Zoe played the role of Dolores Torres.

She was seen as Theresa Jones, Ashton Kutcher's black girlfriend in Guess Who.

Next was Dirty Deeds in 2005 which was American comedy film directed by David Kendall.

In 2008, she did Vantage Point American political-thriller film directed by Pete Travis.

She played Uhura in the 2008 film Star Trek.

Zoe was also the lead in the video for Juan Luis Guerra's song La llave de mi corazón.

Then came the role of Neytiri, the Na'vi princess in James Cameron's Avatar.

The film was a major box office hit and in fact is her biggest success to date.

Zoe has an interest in fashion and has her own fashion line, called Arasmaci.

She was also seen in The Skeptic in 2008.

She is also a global ambassador for Avon, and serves as the face of its colour cosmetics line and the inspiration for the fragrance Eternal Magic.

She was also seen in The Losers.

She has appeared on the covers of Elle and other fashion magazines.

She has also been signed for the sequel to Avataar which is slated for a 2014 release.
