Balika Vadhu: 1500 and counting

Popular TV show Balika Vadhu has achieved the rare feat of running for more than 1500 episodes and to celebrate this accomplishment, the whole cast and crew of the show partied till the wee hours of Saturday night (February 22).

Balika Vadhu has always believed in spreading awareness about social issues – child marriage, widow remarriage and, more recently, crime against women. The show is loved by critics and audiences alike.

Actor Sidharth Shukla, who has recently been in the news for cracking a three-movie deal with filmmaker Karan Johar, arrived in a black leather jacket and looked dashing. His portrayal of the character of Shivraj Shekhar in the show has earned the actor rave reviews from critics and love from the audience.

Actress Smita Bansal, who plays Sumitra in the show, was pretty in an anarkali suit.

The show revolves around the story of Anandi and her tryst with child marriage and true love. Toral Rasputra, who plays Anandi in the show, posed with on-screen sister-in-law Roop Durgapal.

Anjum Farooqi, who played Gauri in the show, looked pretty in the traditional ensemble. She quit the show to get married.

Neha Marda, who played Gehna, also quit the show when she got married. She was replaced by Nivedita Kohli.

Actress Sargun Mehta, who plays Ganga, with her husband, actor Ravi Dubey.

Famous as Dadisa, veteran actress Surekha Sikri has been a part of the show since the very beginning.

Shashank Vyas plays the parallel lead to Sidharth. He plays Jagadish and is much loved by all.
