On the contrary, film's producer Rakesh Roshan said in one of his earlier interviews that Barbara was not his first choice. Barbara had shaved her head for a a film and when Rakesh saw his future heroine with only one inch long hair, he was hesitant to sign her on.

Talking about her personal life, Barbara met actor Sergio Mayer at the age of 19, who is the father of their son Sergio. The two never married.

There were reports of an alleged affair between her and Hrithik Roshan. Rumours also suggested that Hrithik's wife Suzanne had moved out their house but the couple went on to deny these reports.
