Mahesh Bhatt's beautiful daughter shows off her svelte figure in the promos of her debut film Student Of The Year but she wasn't always this fabulous. The young debutante had to work hard to lose her extra weight and followed a strict diet for three months to shed 16 kgs.
Alia, who didn't want to be launched by her dad Mahesh Bhatt, said: "I wanted to go somewhere else. I had to audition for it, I had to lose weight and present myself in a way that I can be accepted."

Actor Arjun Kapoor is all set to make his Bollywood debut in Ishaqzaade, but he didn't always look this way. Cousin of actress Sonam Kapoor, the 170 kilo Arjun had to drop 68 kilos which he did under the guideance of none other than Salman Khan.

Parineeti Chopra, who has bagged almost all debutante awards for her performance in Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl, wasn't always slim. The actress, who is Priyanka Chopra's cousin, recently admitted that before joining films "she wasn't just chubby but very fat." Parineeti will be next seen in Ishaqzaade opposite Arjun Kapoor, himself a fat to fit star.

Sonam Kapoor famously lost over 30 kgs of extra weight to look sexy in her debut film Saawariya. The actress said: "I weighed 86 kilos and sir(Sanjay Leela Bhansali) said Sona bachcha you are my heroine.
She's now better known for the clothes she wears rather than for her films, but that too would have been unthinkable as her previous chubby self. -
Pakistani singer Adnan Sami, who became a household name with songs like Kabhi Toh Nazar Milao and Lift Kara De stunned one and all with his drastic weight loss in 2007.
The singer, who couldn't walk five steps without resting and had to travel with a custom-made wheelchair, lost over 130 kgs in a span of one year. Before this, the talented singer used to tip the scales at 206 kgs. -
Comedian Ricky Gervais is now a leaner, meaner version of his former 90 kilo self. The controversial Golden Globes host said it was one Christmas when he ate over 14 sausages and was ready to eat more that he decided to think about his health, saying "I thought enough is enough. I need to look after myself. I am nearly 50 – I don't want to die."
The 49-year-old star credits jogging and exercising for his healthy weight loss. -
Oscar nominated actor Jonah Hill, lost 40 pounds in less than a year to change his rotund shape dramatically. The 28-year-old actor lost weight in 2011 with the help of a personal trainer, went on a strict diet and lost over 40 pounds.
The once obese actor, who became a hit post 2007 comedy Superbad, said the key to his weight loss was his love of Japanese foods such as sushi.
