Bollywood's best friendship films

It's time to talk friendship once again, and we bring you one of Bollywood's hit formula - friendship films.

The first film that comes to mind when we think friendship is of course Sholay. The bond between Jai and Veeru is legendary all over India.

Aamir Khan, Madhavan and Sharman Joshi starrer 3 Idiots was a perfect example of what true friendship is all about.

The popular but controversial film Dostana starring John Abraham, Priyanka Chopra and Abhishek Bachchan was a film about friendship.

Friendship has been a popular formula in Bollywood because people can relate to it so filmmakers down the ages have adopted it. Most recently, Kabir Khan's New York starring John Anraham, Katrina Kaif and Neil Nitin Mukesh was the story of three friends in America around the time of the September-11 attacks.

Farhan Akhtar's acting debut, Rock On, also starring Arjun Rampal, Luke Kenny and Purab Kohli was the story about four best friends who were connected by music.

Imran Khan's debut film Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na was the story of two best friends who find their friendship turned into love.

The landmark movie Rang De Basanti, starring Aamir Khan, Kunal Kapoor, Madhavan, Soha Ali Khan and a host of others touched the hearts of millions for its contemporary portrayal of friendship.

Another major Bollywood film about friendship is Dil Chahta Hai, starring Aamir Khan, Akshaye Khanna and Saif Ali Khan.

The Indian version of Archie comics was the SRK-Kajol starrer Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. The movie worked so well because the lead couple are close friends in real life as well and their comfort level with each other reflected on screen as well.

Heyy Babby starring Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh and Fardeen Khan may have been a copy of Three Men and a Baby, but the camaraderie between the guys was entertaining.

Jhankaar Beats was yet another film that made the music-friendship connection.
