Bollywood's fake affairs

Love is no longer sacrosanct in Bollywood as actors agree to personal rumours to promote their films.

  • After months of speculation over whether there is any truth behind the Hrithik-Barbara affair, comes the news that it was a carefully planned promotional gimmick designed by Roshans themselves to promote Kites. Does this mean love, marriage etc are no longer sacrosanct in Bollywood. It certainly seems so, as Hrithik isn't the first star to indulge in rumourville promotion.
  • Recently, the Salman Khan-Claudia Ceisla affair also made headlines. Everyone was lead to believe that Salman has broken up with Katrina and is pursuing Claudia. It is now revealed that Sallu and Kat are very much together, but Claudia needed some media visibility, and hence this elaborate rumour.
  • Along with rumours of the Salman-Katrina split, it was also rumoured that John and Katrina were getting closer. Since John and Salman don't get along, this seemed to be a juicy piece of news. Now of course it is revealed that the 'closeness' was another way to promote the John-Katrina starrer New York.
  • When stories of Shahid and Priyanka's closeness started making news, everyone thought Shahid has finally got over Kareena and found a lady love. Sadly, this affair too was but a fake to promote the film Kaminey which will hit the screens later this summer.
  • Shahid has encouraged stories of fake affairs more than once. He remained tight-lipped even when people were linking him to Vidya Balan around the time of their film Kismat Konnection.
  • Around the time of Vivaah, it was rumoured that Amrita Rao and Shahid Kapur were an item, but while the film benefitted from the rumours, it turned out both were still very single.
  • Finally, Soha Ali Khan has been romantically linked with a number of her co-stars. Most recently, rumours of her affair with Kunal Khemu did the rounds, but now that 99 has released, it seems it was all just a hoax.
