Bollywood's hot wives

Bollywood may be the most unique industry when it comes to gender roles, but can also be the most conservative. Here is a look at the career choices of some Bollywood divas.

  • It was a surprise to see Tina Ambani, who is always spotted in a salwar kameez or saris, in a mini skirt with a shimmering gold top. And Mrs Ambani surely gave the young girls stiff competition.

  • Biwi No. 1: Gauri Khan shines by Shah Rukh's side at the India Couture Week.
  • Gauri recently said she's too old to try her luck in Bollywood. She features in a TV commercial for a furnishings brand with husband Shah Rukh. This is her first time before the lights and camera.
  • While she started out as a homemaker, and someone who lives completely in her superstar husband's shadow, in the recent years, Gauri has come into her own.

She took over as one of the key producers of Red Chillies Entertainment, and she gives the venture as much time as any business woman would.

Gauri's status as a celebrity of her own standing was first acknowledged by Vogue magazine when they put her on their cover, not as SRK's wife, but as an emerging presence in Bollywood.

This move in Gauri's life is significant, because she has children, who she mainly looks after.
