Cannes 2011: Slightly-tousled Mallika pips Frieda

Mallika Sherawat's daring black sheer gown didn't quite stand out on the Cannes red carpet, but her demure look in white at amfAR's Cinema Against AIDS Gala surely did, on Day 9 at Cannes.

The Hisss actress looked pretty in a strapless white feathery dress with many saying this is her best look yet.

The slightly-tousled updo and minimal make-up set off the demure white dress to perfection.

Freida Pinto on the other hand, picked a gaudy Lanvin dress.

The Slumdog Millionaire actress, who walked hand-in-hand with Dev Patel, failed to make an impression with the array of metallic hues.

Mallika struck the right chords with a feminine coral gown with a distracting neck, and paired it with a blingy Zagliani clutch much too big for the red carpet.

The spotlight's on you darling!

After stunning everyone with her Cannes red carpet debut, Sonam's Day 6 appearance was a slight letdown. She was flirty in white in a dress from The Row, Resort 2011 collection, accessorized with a Judith Leiber clutch and Ferragamo shoes.

Many said the emerald and white looked similar to the look seen previously on Uma Thurman and Bianca Balti.
