Dimple Kapadia immerses Rajesh Khanna's ashes

Rajesh Khanna's estranged wife Dimple Kapadia and younger daughter Rinke Saran immersed the ashes of the late superstar's ashes in the river Ganges at Haridwar.

Mr Khanna, who died on July 18 of cancer, had recorded a farewell message to be played for family, friends and fans at his chautha, just like he did on screen in Anand.

Dimple Kapadia performed the rituals, with daughter Rinke by her side.

Earlier, Dimple Kapadia and Rinke Saran carried the late superstar's ashes to Haridwar.

Dimple and Rinke at the airport. Elder daughter Twinkle, who is expecting her second child with husband Akshay Kumar, has been advised rest. She was also absent from the funeral procession and was last spotted at her father's chautha on Saturday (July 21).

Actress Anju Mahendroo, who dated late actor Rajesh Khanna for seven years before he married Dimple Kapadia, was spotted at the prayer meet for the star this weekend.

Ms Mahendroo, then an aspiring actress and fashion designer, was Kaka's girlfriend from 1966 to 1972. They broke up very acrimoniously and did not speak for 17 years.

Rajesh Khanna later married one film old Dimple Kapadia in March 1973, six months before her debut film Bobby hit theaters.

Rishi Kapoor and his wife Neetu Singh walked in togther for the prayer meet. Rishi Kapoor was Dimple Kapadia's co-star in her debut film Bobby.

Malaika Arora Khan walked in alone for the prayer meet.

Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty reaches the venue. Disco Dancer, which made Mithun Chakraborty a star also had Mr Khanna in an important role.

After the demise of the actor Prem Chopra had said, "He was a great person to work with. I have done more than a dozen films with him. He was a real superstar of that era."

Vinod Khanna, who has worked with Rajesh Khanna in a couple of films like Prem Kahani and Sachaa Jhootha, is seen with his wife Kavita.
