  • This is the sleeve of Priyanka Chopra's first album, In My City. Priyanka tweeted the image saying, " For ur eyes only...my single cover! Say whaaaaa?

All set to take the stage as one of the featured artists on the Thursday Night Kick-off of the US National Football League, Priyanka will unveil her first music single featuring rapper will.i.am on the big night. The actress said ina recent interview that she would want her music debut to have Indian roots with a global appeal.

    Ahead: Priyanka's life @ 30
  • Former Miss World Priyanka Chopra is all set for the release of Anurag Kashyap's much-awaited Barfi! co-starring Ranbir Kapoor. The movie is scheduled to release on September 14, 2012. Though the film's first promo focused on Ranbir Kapoor, the director said that the next promo will be all about Priyanka. The actress's character in the movie is autistic.
  • Budding singer Priyanka will be crooning in the Zanjeer remake. In the movie, the actress reprises the role originally played by Jaya Bachchan. She will be romancing Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi's son Ram Charan Teja in the movie.
  • She was recently seen opposite ex-beau Shahid Kapoor in Teri Meri Kahaani, but the love story failed to impress the audience.

    Coming Up: Priyanka's Bollywood story.
  • Reports also suggest that she has bagged the lead role of Juliet in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Ram Leela after Kareena Kapoor left the project. But nothing has been confirmed yet.
  • Before this gorgeous lass became Bollywood bound, she captured international attention when she became Miss World in 2000.

And just like that, the crown brought her her one-way ticket to Bollywood.
  • She debuted on-screen with 2002's Hero: Love Story of a Spy, opposite Sunny Deol. Riding high on Sunny Deol's previous blockbuster, Gadar--Ek Prem Katha, everybody expected the film to break records.

Unfortunately for Priyanka and everybody else involved, the film was a colossal flop, sinking not only Sunny Deol's career for a while, but also Priyanka's chances of debuting big.

However, showing off her now characteristic resilience, she pulled through with her next film, Andaaz, which released the same year.

The film was a hit, partly due to Priyanka's sizzling on-screen antics.
  • Now back in the public eye, it was now her prerogative to display the few set qualities Indian audiences expect from an actress--looks, moves and the ability to make them laugh.

Cue: Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, her second pairing with Akshay Kumar (after Andaaz) and her first with Salman Khan. Once again, the film was a huge success, mostly thanks to Akshay and Salman's crackling chemistry.

But in no way should you discredit Priyanka's able comic timing that gained her a million fans.
  • She followed it up with yet another blockbuster, Aitraaz, Abbas-Mastan's chilling Indianisation of the Michael Douglas-Glenn Close starrer, Fatal Attraction.

Aitraaz bagged her two Filmfare nominations, one for Best Supporting Actress and the other for Best Villain, the latter of which she won. Only two years into her career and she already an award-winning, A-list actress.

Clearly, she was here to stay.
  • The following year, she gave the audience a taste of her sensual side with the Bobby Deol-Bipasha Basu starrer, Barsaat, where she played the eternal "other girl".

Her golden run came to an end, though, since the movie flopped miserably. Priyanka, however, only gained from the film, as producer's started noticing once again just how tantalizing she really was.....

The year itself was good to her, though, because her other films, Karam, Waqt: The Race Against Time and Bluffmaster, were, in ascending order, sizeable hits.
  • She opened 2006 with a special appearance in the John Abraham vehicle, Taxi No. 9211, where her cutesy cameo in the end had critics raving. Amazingly so, that minute-long scene was one of the highlights of that film.

This was an insanely lucky year for her since two of her releases, Krrish, opposite Hrithik Roshan, and Don: The Chase Begins Again, were both blockbusters of the highest order.

Her performance in both films was appreciated, specially in Don, where she took over the role originally essayed by Zeenat Aman.
  • The following year, she started off with her second pairing with Nikhil Advani's magnum opus, Salaam-e-Ishq.

This multi-starrer, which had already created quite a buzz for its lilting music and super cast, was expected to rake in Karan Johar-type moolah.

While the film was panned all over, Priyanka and Salman's track was considered one of the stronger ones, while their story was considered weak. Her role, that of a superstar, did her justice, it seemed.

Her only other release of 2007, Big Brother, once again opposite Sunny Deol, sank without a trace.
  • 2008 was a mixed bag, with seven Priyanka Chopra films releasing at regualar intervals.

Priyanka kicked off the year with Harman Baweja's launch-vehicle, Love Story 2050, directed by daddy Baweja. Rumours were that Harman and Priyanka were a couple and the film's promos, which promised a never-seen-before sci-fi spectable, managed to garner a great opening.

But that's about all that it managed to garner, since everything about the film from start to finish was declared a mis-step for Indian cinema. Even Priyanka Chopra's sexy double role couldn't fetch the required numbers.
  • Next came the long-delayed God Tussi Great Ho, a blatant rip-off of Jim Carrey's Bruce Almighty.

The film's dated look, coupled with the fact that it just wasn't funny, proved to be its downfall, despite the fact that it was her third pairing with Salman Khan, which the audience obviously liked.

Even Amitabh Bachchan's turn as God wasn't enough to save the film.
  • Then came Chamku, her second role opposite Bobby Deol.

The film, based on the Naxal violence, once again brought a shadow upon Priyanka's career.
  • Drona, her next release, was supposed to take the superhero genre forward, but proved to be another step backwards for her.

Priyanka played the titular character's female bodyguard, a role no one found convincing, even the ones who didn't go see it. Abhishek Bachchan's performance and Goldie Behl's direction were ripped apart in reviews.
  • And now the slump repaired itself!

With Madhur Bhandarkar's gritty take on the glam world, Fashion, Priyanka won her first National Award for Best Actress, as well as another Filmfare award, this time for Best Actress.

Her performance, that of a small-town girl who makes it so big that she forgets her roots, was said to be the hallmark of an otherwise so-so film.
  • She ended the year with the Karan Johar-produced, Tarun Mansukhani-directed Dostana, pairing opposite John Abraham, Abhishek Bachchan and Bobby Deol once again.

The film was a blockbuster for various reasons--the peppy soundtrack, the chemistry between John and Abhishek, Bobby Deol's surprisingly funny act. But more than anything it was Priyanka Chopra's extraordinary wardrobe.

She wore tantalizingly little but never came across as cheap. Girls the nation over ooh-ed and aah-ed over Priyanka's fresh look, inspired by the setting, Miami. She even wore a bikini for the film, which got even more press than the film's pre-release publicity.
  • Priyanka's next major release was Vishal Bharadwaj's Kaminey, where she was paired opposite Shahid Kapoor.

Her unglamorous look was complimented and very well received, as was her stellar performance, not to mention her electrifying chemistry with Shahid.

In fact, the chemistry displayed itself off-screen, as well, when Shahid and Priyanka entered an unofficially-official relationship. They deny it to this day, but it was obvious for all to see.
  • After Kaminey's stupendous success, she was seen in Ashutosh Gowariker's What's Your Rashee, opposite ex-beau Harman Baweja.

The film marked a record of sorts, since it had Priyanka play twelve roles, one for each house of the zodiac! Needless to say, with that kind of versatility, she earned some serious respect even as the film was called one of the worst in recent times.
  • With 2010's Anjaana Anjaani, she signed her first role opposite Ranbir Kapoor. And, as with everything Ranbit, she quickly became linked to Bollywood's reigning Casanova.

Word was that her then-beau Shahid Kapoor was not amused. And neither were here audience, considering that the film was a surprise flop. The brilliant soundtrack and the snazzy trailers had everything going for them.
  • Closer still, she kicked off 2011 with Vishal Bharadwaj's adaptation of Ruskin Bond's Susanna's Seven Husbands, called 7 Khoon Maaf.

Priyanka essayed the role of Susanna, an enigmatic woman, 'wronged' seven times over by seven different men. To escape each man, she takes to the hatchet, moving on to another freak of nature almost immediately. It very effectively chronicled a slightly psychotic woman's journey through life, without once taking a stand on right or wrong.

Unfortunately, critics panned the film, labeling it too abstract for Indian audiences. Priyanka's breathtaking performance was sadly lost in those views.
  • In Don 2, she was again seen as Roma, the cunning vixen who plays the foil to Shah Rukh Khan's Don.
  • She will also be seen in Kunal Kohli's yet-untitled film, Anurag Basu's Barfee (opposite Ranbir again), Karan Johar's Agneepath (opposite Hrithik Roshan) and Rakesh Roshan's Krrish 2 (opposite Hrithik, again).
