  • This newly-one-year-old may have an outsize title - His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge - but he matches it with giant side of cuteness. George, son of Prince William and the former Kate Middleton, celebrates his first birthday today and the party just started, especially since he is about to become an elder brother with Prince William and Kate Middleton expecting their second child.

Here's a look at the toddler's first year.
  • Baby George was born on July 22, 2013 at the St Mary's Hospital in London. His birth was celebrated across the commonwealth countries including New Zealand and Canada. He left the hospital with his mother on the very next day. This was his first, and for a long time, only public outing.
  • His full name was announced as George Alexander Louis on July 24, 2013. His full title was revealed as His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge. Baby George is now third in line to England's throne after his grandfather, Prince Charles, and father.
  • It was almost a month before we got another look at Baby George, when his first official Royal portrait was released. The photograph, taken by Kate's father Michael Middleton, also features the family pets Tilly and Lupo and was taken in the Middletons' garden.
  • The next time we saw Will and Kate's little bundle of joy was at his christening on October 23, 2013.
  • Prince George, seen here with his parents at the ceremony, reportedly wore a replica of the intricate lace and satin christening gown made for Queen Victoria's eldest daughter, Victoria the Princess Royal, in 1841.
  • Later, Buckingham Palace released a photo celebrating the christening of Prince George that shows four generations of the Royal Family and three of the Middletons gathered together. The group was photographed in The Morning Room at Clarence House in London on October 23, 2013.

In the back row, from left: The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Charles, his wife Camilla, Prince Harry, Pippa Middleton, James Middleton, Carole Middleton and Michael Middleton. In the front row, from left: Queen Elizabeth, Kate Middleton with Prince George and Prince William.
  • We had to wait until March 29, 2014 for having another look at Prince George as his parents released a rare family photo showing the couple with their eight-month-old son Prince George and pet dog Lupo.
  • But we didn't have to wait too long for the next glimpse; Baby George was seen with his parents on April 7, 2014 as they touched down in Wellingto to begin their three-week tour of New Zealand and Australia. This was only his second official public outing.
  • The tour gave us a lot of glimpses into the busy lives of Prince George and his doting mother. Here, he was seen engaged in a stare-down with a big blue teddy bear.
  • Prince George was spotted taking baby steps with a little help from mommy last month and this image of him walking on his own, dressed in striped blue Petit Bateau dungarees, has been released by the Palace to celebrate his birthday.

  • Prince George's pre-birthday pictures also included those from a visit to the butterfly exhibit at London's Natural History Museum.
  • That butterfly is obviously one of the most fascinating things the little Prince has seen in his short life.

We wish Prince George a very happy birthday.
