Happy Birthday, Arjun Kapoor. Bollywood's Favourite Gunda @ 33

Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor kick-started his 33rd birthday celebration in the presence of his close family members. Janhvi Kapoor, Anshula, Khushi Kapoor and Boney Kapoor dropped by Arjun's Mumbai residence for an intimate celebration late Monday night.

  • Arjun Kapoor was born on June 26, 1985 to producers Boney Kapoor and Mona Shourie. He is the grandson of filmmaker Surinder Kapoor and the nephew of actors Anil and Sanjay Kapoor. Stepmother Sridevi, first cousin Sonam and producer Rhea Kapoor are also a part of his filmy family. He has a younger sister named Anshula and is half-brother to Sridevi's daughters Jhanvi and Khushi.
  • Arjun was very young when his parents separated and his father married actress Sridevi. Mona Shourie and both Arjun and Anshula continued to live in the family home until Ms Shourie's death in 2012.
  • Arjun attended the Arya Vidya Mandir school in Mumbai but dropped out after failing his class 12 examination.
  • Arjun's first brush with Bollywood was as assistant director to Nikhil Advani in Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003). He also assisted the director in Salaam-e-Ishq: A Tribute to Love (2007). He worked as an associate producer on two of his father's productions - No Entry (2005) and Wanted (2009) - before signing a three-film acting deal with Yash Raj Films.
  • Arjun made his acting debut with the 2012 film Ishaqzaade in which he starred with Parineeti Chopra. The film was a hit and Arjun received rave reviews for his performance.
  • In 2013, Arjun played a double role in Atul Sabharwal's crime thriller Aurangzeb. The film was a flop.
  • Arjun's first film of 2014 was the action thriller Gunday, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. Arjun and Ranveer Singh played coal bandits who become a part of Kolkata's powerful coal mafia. Priyanka Chopra played their love interest. The movie did fairly well at the box office. Arjun's acting was again applauded.
  • Arjun's second film of 2014 was the highly successful romantic comedy 2 States, based on a novel by Chetan Bhagat. Arjun and Alia Bhatt received rave reviews for their portrayal of a couple who belong to different cultures and the problems they face in their romantic journey. The film has made over Rs 100 crores.

    The same year he featured in Homi Adajania's Finding Fanny, co-starring Deepika Padukone, Dimple Kapadia and Naseeruddin Shah. The film received critical acclaim.
  • Then came the ill-fated Tevar opposite Sonakshi Sinha, which was produced by his uncle Sanjay Kapoor
  • In 2016, Arjun Kapoor worked with Kareena Kapoor Khan in Ki & Ka, which was directed by R Balki. The film was a minor hit at the box office and received lukewarm reviews.
  • Arjun featured in the Mohit Suri-directed Half Girlfriend in 2017, based on Chetan Bhagat's novel. The film also starred Shraddha Kapoor.
  • Mubarakan was Arjun Kapoor's last release of 2017. In the film, he plays a double role and romances Ileana D'Cruz and Athiya Shetty. Arjun real life uncle (Anil Kapoor) played his onscreen uncle in the film Anees Bazmee-directed film.
  • Arjun Kapoor is currently shooting for Namaste London (stars Parineeti Chopra), which is scheduled to release on October 19. Apart from Namaste England, Arjun will be seen in Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar (also opposite Parineeti Chopra) and Ashutosh Gowarikar's Panipat, alongside Sanjay Dutt and Kriti Sanon.
