Janhvi Kapoor, almost two years after the release of her debut film Dhadak, is ruling hearts in Bollywood. Janhvi, daughter of late actress Sridevi and filmmaker Boney Kapoor, was a bona fide celebrity even before her Bollywood debut released and with Dhadak she proved that she's here to stay. Janhvi Kapoor, born in 1997, is Boney Kapoor's daughter with his second wife Sridevi. Her younger sister is Khushi Kapoor.

Janhvi completed her schooling from Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Mumbai and she went on to pursue a course in acting from Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in California.

Arjun Kapoor and Anshula, Boney Kapoor's children with first wife Mona Shourie, united with Janhvi and Khushi after Sridevi's death in 2018. In 2019, Janhvi appeared on Koffee With Karan with Arjun Kapoor where they talked about their recently formed bond.

At an event, Boney Kapoor said that he was "relieved" after Arjun and Anshula "accepted" Janhvi and Khushi. "The way they have accepted Janhvi and Khushi that has made me feel very relieved. My all four children are my strength," he had said.

Before Dhadak, Janhvi was reportedly offered a Telugu film opposite Mahesh Babu, which the then actress-in-waiting had turned down.

Janhvi Kapoor debuted opposite Ishaan Khatter in 2018 film Dhadak, which was a remake of Marathi blockbuster Sairat. Dhadak faced resistance from critics and cinephiles, who drew comparisons with the original film.

However, Dhadak performed reasonably well at the box office. The film was directed by Shashank Khaitan and produced by Karan Johar.

Janhvi Kapoor also has Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, a biopic on IAF pilot Gunjan Saxena, in the pipeline. The film, directed by Sharan Sharma, is slated to open in theatres on April 24.

Janhvi Kapoor has also signed up for Karan Johar-directed Takht, which will give her the opportunity to work with her uncle Anil Kapoor. Takht also features Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal and Bhumi Pednekar. Other than Takht, Janhvi will also be seen with Rajkummar Rao in Hardik Mehta-directed Roohi Afzana

Janhvi Kapoor has also made her web debut with Netflix's Ghost Stories. She appeared in one of the four segments directed by Zoya Akhtar, Anurag Kashyap, Dibakar Banerjee and Karan Johar. The actress has also joined the team of Dostana 2, in which she will co-star with Kartik Aaryan and newcomer Lakshya.
