Kiara was born Alia Advani to Jagdeep Advani and Genevieve Jaffrey. She has a younger brother Mishaal.

Kiara has predominantly appeared in Hindi and Telugu films. In 2014's Fugly, she co-starred with Mohit Marwah, Vijender Singh, Arfi Lamba and Jimmy Sheirgill.
Kiara later starred opposite Sushant Singh Rajput in M S. Dhoni: The Untold Story (2016). The film was hugely successful at the box office.

Her first film of 2017 was Abbas-Mustan's Machine, which tanked at the box office. In the film, Kiara and her co-star Mustafa recreated Akshay Kumar and Raveen Tandon's famous song Tu Cheez Badi.
Telugu political drama Bharat Ane Nenu, in which Kiara co-starred with Mahesh Babu, hit the screens in April.
