  • First look: While the film will only release in July 2009, here's a glimpse of the much awaited Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, which is based on the novel written by J.K Rowling. The title role is played by Daniel Radcliffe.
  • Best friends return: There were wide specualtions about the principal cast as the actors looked visibly grown up, perhaps too much so for their roles, but to everyone's relief, they're all still there. Rupert Grint plays Ron Weasley, Harry Potter's best friend.
  • Best witch in town: Emma Watson too will return to play the loveable albiet slightly nerdy Hermione Granger.
  • Always Albus: Michael Gambon, who took over the role of Dumbledore after the death of Richard Harris, continues in the role of the ideal school principal.
  • Draconian: Harry Potter's arch enemy, Draco Malfoy, played by Tom Felton has a decidedly bigger role this time around. Just as Harry becomes part of the Order of the Phoenix, Draco becomes a Death Eater - an insider in Voldemort's circle.
  • The Potions master: The sixth film raises all kinds of doubts towards the character of Snape, played by Alan Rickman. Will he betray Dumbledore? In this picture, Snape (left) proves to, Bellatrix Lestrange (Helena Bonham Carter) and Narcissa Malfoy (Helen McCrory) his pledge to help Draco.
  • The wonderful werewolf: Another fighter for justice, Remus Lupin, the former Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher (and also a werewolf, by the way) makes a comeback in this film. David Thewlis continues to portray Lupin.
  • Loony Luna: Evanna Lynch too comes back, after a successful performance in Order of the Phoenix, to play the dreamy Luna Lovegood.
  • The new ones: Apart from all those making a comeback, a few new names have been added to the Harry Potter family. Horace Slughorn, played by Jim Broadbent joins the group to play the new Potions master.
  • Young Ralph: Ralph Fiennes, who plays You-Know-Who, has sent his You-Know-What, Hero Fiennes-Tiffin, to play his younger self, Tom Riddle.
  • Romance in the air: By the sixth year at Hogwarts, the romance between certain characters is palpable. Hermione and Ron who had been the most predictable couple, finally get together, while Harry realises his feelings for Ginny Weasley.
  • Envy: Like any good entertainer, jealousy plays a part in the Ron-Hermione relationship, as Ron stars dating Lavender Brown.
  • The end?: Dumbledore trains Harry personally, but doesn't take his information about Draco or Snape seriously. Will the Death Eaters get the better of the greatest wizard ever?
  • Gang to the rescue: While the Headmaster isn't willing to cast suspisions on Draco, the terrific three - Harry, Ron and Hermione are convinced that something isn't right. They plot ways of finding out the truth about Malfoy junior.
  • Silent terror: The most interesting thing about this film will be the horcruxes - pieces of Voldemort's soul that have been divided to assure immortality.
  • Draco in the dumps: The smug Malfoy has been chosen by Voldemort as a special agent who will help his 'cause'. The change in Malfoy's manner is to watch out for.
  • The Dark Lord rises: 'The obvious darkness of Voldemort's impending rise to power' will be evident in this film.
  • A look into the past: Under the guidance of Dumbledore and with the help of a device called the Pensieve, Harry is able to see Tom Riddle's past. This may be one of the most enthralling aspects of the film.
  • N.E.W.Ts and O.W.Ls Even in the midst of great suspense, and action, the film doesn't allow us to forget our favourite part of Harry Potter - Hogwarts. The students are required to take important exams and do well enough to become aurors.
  • Game on: And who can forget Quidditch - everyone's favourite sport goes on despite the darkness all around.
  • The writers: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is based on the novel written by J.K. Rowling, but the screenplay of the film is written by Steve Kloves.
  • The dream-team: Director David Yates sits with his stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Bonnie Wright, who plays Harry's love interest, Ginny Weasley. Yates directed The Order of the Phoenix and is all set to direct The Deathly Hallows, which he has divided into two parts.
