How Big B transformed into Auro
A look at how 67-year old Amitabh Bachchan was transformed into a 12-year old child Auro, suffering from a rare disorder Progeria. Progeria patients lose hair and their veins start showing prominently and the size of their head grows abnormally compared to the torso. The eye-sight is impaired, the skin is scaly and there are no eyebrows or eye lashes.

The prosthetic makeup was done by international make up artists Kristen Timble of The Passion Of The Christ, Catwoman and Dominique of The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy fame.

Big B wrote on his blog that getting into the Auro look required four to five hours of makeup.

Not only this, it used to take over two hours to remove the makeup.

According to reports Big B's make-up cost almost 10 per cent of the film's total budget.

As is the norm with prosthetic makeup, the Bollywood icon couldn't move from his place when the make-up was being done. Amitabh Bachchan was unable to eat, drink or even talk when the prosthetics and makeup was applied.

His head and ears were covered with one prosthetic unit. A couple of small holes were made in the artificial skull so that the sound could reach his ears.

Big B had also mentioned that speaking was a major problem with the prosthetic because whatever he spoke echoed inside the skull.

Eight specially designed prosthetics made from clay were stuck on his face.

Big B wore specially designed dentures so as replicate the voice of a 13-year old child and his lisp and speech pattern got altered because of the extra teeth. He wore the dentures throughout the film's shooting and also had them on while dubbing.
