Indian films at IFFI 2009

The Indian Premier Section will also showcase a selection of eight films during The 40th International Film Festival of India, Goa 2009 from 23rd November till 3rd December 2009. First is Amol Palekar’S english film And Once Again is among the eight feature films selected to premiere at the upcoming International Film Festival of India.

And Once Again has Rituparna Sengupta, Rajat Kapoor, Antara Mali, Gerson Decunha, Nivedita Sabooand Yudene Zongtenpa. The film is about Rishi, his wife Savitri who he lost in a violent attack and Manuvela who is the daughter of his psychiatrist, who he later on married. While on a trip to Sikkim, Rishi sees a female monk who resembles his first wife, on investigating it is confirmed that she is Savitri. The film is about dealing with man- woman relationship, about repression of violence, its lingering shadow and various shades, and how we manage to draw a line between our past and present.

Next is Anant Mahadevan's Red Alert: The War Within starring Suniel Shetty, Sameera Reddy, Bhagyashree, Ayesha Dharkar, Seema Biswas, Naseeruddin Shah and Vinod Khanna.

Red Alert: The War Within is the account of one man; it embodies the true conflict facing the impoverished: Do we fight to protect a nation that has forgotten us? Or, do we fight to survive and feed ourselves? Do we really have any choice?

God Lives in the Himalayas directed by Sanjay Srinivas is also part of the screening.

God Lives in the Himalayas set in a picturesque village in the Himalayan foothills, is the story of a 10-year old boy Siddharth whose mother is killed and his father burnt when a religious ceremony goes terribly wrong. Now Siddharth is in a quest to find God and ask him why he took his parents away, in the freezing cold and the blinding mist of the Himalayas, Siddharth along with his friend and cousin climbs towards God. And He will not stop until he finds Him.
