Joy Mukherjee's body taken home

Body of veteran actor Joy Mukherjee who passed away in Mumbai today, was taken home from Lilavati hospital. He was 73 years old.

Joy Mukherjee was suffering from respiratory problems.

Music director Bappi Lahiri was also spotted outside the hospital.

The actor's body was first taken to a relative's place in Khar, Mumbai.

Joy Mukherjee made his acting debut in 1960 with Love In Simla. Post that he became popular with films like Shagird, Love in Tokyo, Bahu Beti, Ziddi, Phir Wohi Dil Laya Hoon, Ek Musafir Ek Hasina, Puraskar, Ishaara and Hum Hindustani.

The body was later taken to the late actor's residence in Versova, Mumbai.

Actress Rani Mukherjee was also spotted at Joy Mukherjee's residence at Versova.

Union Information & Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni has condoled the death of veteran actor Joy Mukherjee.

"Joy Mukherjee represented the era of romantic films in the Indian film industry. His films were known for their melodious songs and enthralling music which provided wholesome entertainment. I pray to God that his family gathers the strength to overcome the unrepairable loss," Soni said in her condolence message.
