In The Army Now: Fauji's dashing Abhimanyu Rai instantly won over the nation's heart proving that a man in uniform is simply irresistible.

Lover Boy: In Deewana, SRK played rich brat, Raj – a name that was touched with stardust – who falls for a widow. He won the Filmfare Best Actor Award for this, his very first movie role.

The Gentleman: SRK is a young engineering graduate in Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman. Juhi Chawla falls in love with Shah Rukh in the movie.

Lethal Weapon: Shah Rukh took the antihero route with Abbas-Mustan's Baazigar in which he played the out-for-revenge Ajay. Kajol narrowly escaped a tragic fate but poor Shilpa Shetty wasn't quite as lucky.

The Girl Is Mine: SRK played Juhi Chawla's obsessed lover, and pain in Sunny Deol's neck, in Darr.

Marching to a Different Beat: Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa's Sunil is a loser who fails, for once, to get the girl.

Heartbreaker: Female jaws dropped the world over when King Khan said “Palat” as Raj – again – in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge.

Crazy Heart: Music, dance and SRK as Rahul, another name that would propel him to stardom, – Dil To Pagal Hai had it all. It also won him his second Filmfare Award.

Double Delight: Duplicate witnessed Shah Rukh Khan in a double role. Till today he has done double roles in three films. The other two are Don and Paheli.

Dil Se didn't do much at the box office but overseas it was very much appreciated. The movie earned several awards in India and abroad.

Boy To Man: R stood for Rahul in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai in which college boy Rahul wooed Rani Mukherji and grown up Rahul made it up with Kajol.

Epic Hero: SRK played Ashoka the Great in the movie Asoka with Kareena Kapoor as the object of his royal affections. The movie didn't blow the box office away but the King was praised for his intense performance.

440 Volts: Shah Rukh upped the star ante in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham alongside a dream cast of Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, Kajol and Kareena. He played Rahul (yes, again), the adopted, then cast aside, then reunited son of the Raichand family. The movie was the highest grossing Indian film in the overseas market.

Drink To Me: Who else but the Baadshah of Bollywood could have filled Dilip Kumar's shoes in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's version of Devdas? Much awarded, the film was also India's entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the Oscars.

Life's Like That: He updated the Rajesh Khanna-Amitabh starrer Anand with Kal Ho Na Ho playing the terminally ill Aman opposite Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta.

Return of the Native: SRK played NRI Mohan Bhargava in Ashutosh Gowariker's Swades. The movie received very good reviews from critics and a cult following from audience around India.

Badmaash Company: SRK had more big shoes to fill, this time Amitabh Bachchan's, in Don: The Chase Begins.

To Sir With Love: Chak De India's hockey coach Kabir not only shared the screen with a whole team of hockey playing ladies, it also made statements about religious harmony and sporting spirit.

Om, Shah Rukh, Om: SRK tickled our funny bone and pulled our heartstrings as Om Prakash Makhija in Om Shanti Om.

Light My Fire: SRK played Asperger's Syndrome afflicted Rizwan Khan dealing with a world gone mad in My Name Is Khan.
