Miley Cyrus: From teen next door to risqué Miss

Miley Cyrus hasn't been Hannah Montana in years. She also hasn't been a productive pop star in years – specifically, three. Now, she's back and better than before with We Can't Stop , her first single since 2010's Who Owns My Heart, topping charts within hours of it's release. Miley stopped by US radio host Ryan Seacrest's show to premiere her new song, dressed in a white crop top and mini skirt. On her finger, was the engagement ring that on again-off again fiancé Liam Hemsworth gave her.

In May, Miley topped Maxim magazine's Hot 100 list, leaving the likes of Beyonce, Rihanna, Mila Kunis, Scarlett Johansson and Jennifer Lawrence trailing in her wake. She posed in Maxim wearing a nude bodysuit, with her cropped blonde hair slicked down.

In May this year, Miley had a hair-raising fashion moment at the punk-themed Met Gala in New York. She was outrageous in a black fishnet dress by Marc Jacobs complete with spiked hair.

In May, Miley went chequered in a Balmain jumpsuit and Givenchy shoes at the Billboard Music Awards.

Miley raised eyebrows with her provocative photoshoot for V Magazine's May 2013 issue, in another racy crop top.

On May 17, Miley tweeted this picture of herself wearing her 3.5 carat Neil Lane engagement ring, putting an end to rumours of a split with Liam Hemsworth. Miley had been pictured without her ring some months earlier and had claimed then that it was being cleaned. She and Liam are believed to still be together but have put the wedding on hold. Miley was slinky in a cutout Norma Kamali black turtleneck dress at the VH1 Divas show in Los Angeles on December 16, 2012.

Edgy Miley was anything but basic in sheer black Emilio Pucci and her new cropped hair at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sepember 6, 2012. She later said that she was never going back to her famous long mane that had played a starring role on the Hannah Montana show.

In June 2012, Miley was spotted in one of her favourite midriff-baring looks – tiny shorts, cropped t-shirt, plaid shirt tied around her waist and boots.

Miley left fashion critics in awe at the premiere of boyfriend Liam Hemsworth's film Hunger Games on March 12, 2012. She was stunning in a black lace Emilio Pucci skirt with matching cropped top.

On May 31, 2012, Liam proposed to Miley, his girlfriend of three years. Miley later told People magazine, "I'm so happy to be engaged and look forward to a life of happiness with Liam."

The couple met while working together in Miley's film The Last Song in 2009 and Liam, 23, has previously admitted while he wanted to be professional on the film, they couldn't help but fall in love.

And then there was that time Miley, 19 at the time, decided to put on an oversized Jean Paul Gaultier blazer and call it a dress at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas held on May 19.

Miley is also known for her love of big ballgowns as much as she is for cropped tops. She wore this high-voltage Roberto Cavalli number at Elton John's Oscar party in February 2012.

At 2011's MTV Video Music Awards, Miley was stunning in another floor-length Roberto Cavalli dress.

And that's an outfit to beat the Hannah Montana blues. Miley opened the MuchMusic Video Awards held on June 20, 2010 in Toronto in a leather leotard and hotpants.
