Mumbai in Cruise control

On a whirlwind tour of India to promote the fourth instalment of his Mission Impossible franchise, Hollywood star Tom Cruise landed in Mumbai Saturday evening amidst tight security.

Dressed in a blue and white checkered shirt and blue jeans, Tom Cruise landed at the domestic terminal of Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport a little before 5 pm. He was accompanied by Anil Kapoor.

Cruise will be checking into the presidential suite of the Taj Mahal Palace and Towers in Colaba.

Cruise and Anil Kapoor are scheduled to host the fan screening of Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol on Sunday.

The film marks the return of the Hollywood superstar as secret agent Ethan Hunt. Anil Kapoor plays an Indian business tycoon Brij Nath in the movie.

From Delhi, Tom Cruise will be heading to Agra, as the actor plans to visit the monument of love, Taj Mahal and will be accompanied by Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor.

Tom headed straight to the Leela Palace, Chanakyapuri, where he'll be staying at the hotel's exquisite Maharaja Suite, which has a personal gym, jacuzzi and is one of the most expensive suites in the country.

The story of the 4th installment of the Mission franchise goes like this: Impossible Mission Force (IMF) operative Hunt and fellow agents get blamed for a terrorist bombing of the Kremlin and are forced to run.

The agency is dissolved and the group - without any resources or backup - must find a way to clear the agency's name, prevent another attack and avert a nuclear war.

When asked recently how he coped with hard training and long hours on the set, Cruise said: "I just love what I do and I do it because I want to entertain."

Major parts of the film were shot in Dubai, where it will officially open on December 7, while the action also takes Hunt to Moscow, Budapest and Mumbai.

The spectacular Mission Impossible blockbusters have grossed over $2 billion worldwide.

Since he first appeared on screen in 1981, Tom Cruise has made 34 films and had a producing role in 17 films.

Next, Cruise will be seen in the film version of the hit Broadway musical, Rock of the Ages, opening in June, 2012.

In a career of over three decades, Tom Cruise has been nominated for three Academy Awards and he has won three Golden Globe Awards.

After two marriages, including an 11-year one with actor Nicole Kidman, Cruise married actor Katie Holmes in 2006.

Their daughter Suri, born in 2006, is among the most photographed celebrity children in the world. The youngest Cruise frequently makes headlines for her stylish clothes and accessories. Her wardrobe is reportedly worth $3 million.
