Jailed actor Sanjay Dutt came home on a month-long break from prison to a sizeable welcome committee comprising of his Bollywood friends. Among them was his Munna Bhai producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra, pictured here with the actor and his wife Maanyata. Mr Dutt, 56, was granted a 30-day parole on August 26 for his daughter Iqra's nose surgery.

Speculation of VIP treatment has been prompted by Sanjay Dutt's repeated breaks from Pune's Yerawada Jail, where he is serving the remainder of a five-year sentence for his role in the 1993 Bombay Blasts.

Actor Sanjay Dutt was photographed outside his Mumbai residence on Wednesday evening, home from Pune's Yerawada Jail. The actor has been allowed to leave prison for a month because his daughter Iqra, is having nose surgery.

Mr Dutt was found guilty in 2013 of acquiring illegal weapons from those involved in the 1993 attacks in Mumbai. He was sentenced to six years in jail in 2007; he served 18 months but then was out on bail, fighting the conviction until a court in March 2013 ordered him back to jail in Pune.

Sanjay had left the jail on December 21 last year to take care of his ailing wife Manyata and his children. His parole was supposed to be a month long.

The parole was extended twice. These extensions also created a lot of controversy about the ‘VIP-treatment' meted out to the actor.

37-year-old wife Manyata was hospitalised in January after she complained of lung complications.
She is feeling fine now and taking care of their children Shahraan and Iqra.

Sanjay Dutt was sanctioned leave for a month by Pune's divisional commissioner Prabhakar Deshmukh after he filed an application citing his wife Maanyata's illness.
"My wife has a tumour of the liver. There have been many cancer instances in my family. Doctors are investigating. Please pray for my wife. We will follow medical course after the investigation," he told the media. -
