No grand Diwali for Bollywood stars

Bollywood keeps it simple this Diwali.

  • For a number of reasons, Bollywood stars decide to keep this year's Diwali a simple affair.
  • Shah Rukh Khan:

It's a very important day for the King Khan. His labour of love, RA.One will be revealed to the world on this day.

SRK will be seen celebrating with family, cast and crew and his fans at the film's premiere in Toronto on October 26.
  • Aamir Khan:

His low-key card parties have always attracted a prolific guest list, but he has chosen to work this Diwali.

The actor will be in London wrapping up the last schedule of his next film, Dhuaan. Reportedly, Kiran will be travelling along to spend Diwali him.

Says Aamir, "I gamble with other people's money all year, so this time I will gamble with my own money."
  • Salman Khan:

Sallu flew down to Mumbai just for a day to wrap up an episode for his TV show last week, but won't be able to stick around for Diwali.

He usually spends the day at his farmhouse in Panvel with his family and some local kids. This time, he will be shooting for Ek Tha Tiger in Turkey.
  • The Bachchan Family:

The entire Bachchan family, consisting of Amitabh, Jaya, Abhishek and Aishwarya, will be celebrating at home.
  • Ranbir Kapoor:

Ranbir, who is currently touring the country with the promotions of Rockstar, will be interacting with his fans on Diwali day.
  • Imtiaz Ali:

Rockstar director Imtiaz, on the other hand, has chosen to spend the day indoors with friends and family.

"Oil lamps, sugar sweets, friends, family and crackers has always been my Diwali routine and I will stick to it," he says.
  • Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra:

Says Shilpa, "I will be with family We are keeping it low-key out of respect for a family member from Raj's side who is very ill."
  • Kareena Kapoor:

With her beau Saif's father, the Nawab of Pataudi passing away recently, Kareena is expected to keep celebrations to a minimum.

She will be shooting with Aamir Khan in London and might also be involved with the promotion of RA.One, which releases on Diwali.
  • Kat will keep Salman company, since both of them will be busy shooting for Ek Tha Tiger.
  • Deepika Padukone:

She has recently shifted to her new apartment and is going to celebrate Diwali with her family by organising a Laxmi puja in her new house.
  • Farhan Akhtar:

After tasting success as an actor-producer in his sister's blockbuster, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Farhan is busy with his next directorial venture, Don 2 and will attend a series of meetings on the promotions of the film.
  • Anil Kapoor:

He is going to celebrate Diwali with his family. It's going to be a low-key affair since the family is still mourning his father Surinder Kapoor's demise.
  • Vivek Oberoi:

This is Vivek's first Diwali after marriage and so he will be spending a noiseless, bright evening with his wife and family.
  • Rajkumar Hirani:

He likes to celebrate with his parents, who are in Nagpur.
  • Kalki Koechlin:

With husband Anurag Kashyap out of town, she will be performing her play in Bangalore.
  • Imran Khan:

Imran's still basking in the glory of three back-to-back hits and wouldn't let go of an opportunity to throw a Diwali bash.

He is anticipated to throw a card party.
  • Raveena Tandon:

Diwali is special this year as it is falling on her birthday and the day she got engaged.

"I am celebrating eight years of my engagement, but I won't be celebrating Diwali as such as there was a death in my family."
