Oscar fashion history: What Cate, Sandra, Jennifer have already worn

Always set right on the fashion scale, Cate Blanchett began her red carpet sojourn at the Oscars with a John Galliano in the year 1999. She surely upped the temperature by the backless ensemble.

She continued the fashion extravaganza in the year 2000. She chose a black Jean-Paul Gaultier and looked as glamorous as ever.

In 2005, the pulled-back-hair look gave way to let-loose curls and darker shades to yellow. The transition was well in place as the fashion police quite liked the Valentino.

Cate zeroed onto a copper brown Armani Prive for the year 2007, showing off her curves.

This was replaced by Dries van Noten in 2008. She spelled style in the purple outfit.
