It seems like just yesterday when Jai and Veeru won our hearts with their yaarana in the 1975 blockbuster movie Sholay. Cut to circa 2013, and they seem to have delivered on the vow they made in the song Yeh Dosti Hum Nahi Todenge. We caught them chatting and laughing just as if the years had not rolled by at the wedding of Dharmendra's daughter Ahana Deol. Both Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra are married to their co-stars from Sholay - Jaya Bhaduri and Hema Malini. Ahead: The first day Big B shot after Coolie accident -
Amitabh Bachchan's latest Tuesday memoir is a very special moment from 1982. This picture is from the sets of Coolie and marks the day Big B returned to filming after recovering from the accident that nearly killed him. With him is Sholay co-star Amjad Khan, one of the many friends who arrived to wish him well on his first day back.
" I told Manmohan Desai, when I resume shooting I want it to start from the same shot that I was felled during the accident. I had wanted to get up and punch the villain !! This exactly what I did," writes Mr Bachchan about the shoot.
On July 26, 1982, a mistimed punch and jump while shooting an action sequence for Manmohan Desai's Coolie sent Amitabh Bachchan to hospital in critical condition. He spent weeks in coma, while the country prayed and wife Jaya walked barefoot to Mumbai's Siddhivinayak temple every day. On August 2, doctors finally revived him in a last-ditch attempt with a shot of pure adrenaline to the heart. Amitabh Bachchan went on to make a full recovery and completed shooting Coolie, which became a superhit. Director Manmohan Desai changed the ending, keeping Big B's character alive rather than having him die as was originally planned, as a tribute to the man who cheated death in real life.

Shashi-tabh (Shashi Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan, of course) are our all-time favourite Bollywood jodi. Here they are, shooting Ajooba (1991) in what was then USSR and is now Ukraine.
Amitabh Bachchan, who starred in the film, had this funny story about his old friend, who was directing him: "One confirmation that the picture is taken in Yalta, USSR then, now in Ukraine, is the missing stick in the hand of Shashi Kapoor ! In Mumbai when we started shooting he would move around with a stick on set, gathering his troops and bringing them to order, and generously using it if indiscipline occurred !! He lost the stick in Russia !! Thank God !!"

Here's Amitabh Bachchan earning his stripes while shooting Khoon Pasina in 1977 when he had to shoot a fight scene with a real tiger. It's not every actor who would so willingly embrace a ferocious feline but, heck, if not the Angry Young Man, then who?
This picture was posted by the megastar on Facebook and Big B also revealed that it was while shooting this scene that he received the news of Abhishek's birth at Breach Candy Hospital. Big B wrote on Facebook: Everyone on set commented as I left .. “agar beta hua toh uska naam Tiger rakhna” !! Ha ha !
For long years till I think he was 4 or 5 years old I would call him Tiger when I would call from locations on phone, and Abhishek thinking that since the talk was on animals, he needed to be speaking the same language ...
