People's Most Beautiful Women over the years

Brand new mommy Beyonce has been named as the Most Beautiful Woman for 2012 by People's magazine.

  • Beyonce, 2012: Brand new mommy Beyonce has been named this year's Most Beautiful Woman People's magazine. She makes the #1 spot ahead of actresses Sofia Vergara and Charlize Theron who are in second and third.

    Beyonce is only the second black woman, after Halle Berry (2003), to have topped People's annual list.

    Ahead, the other lovely ladies who've made the cover of People's Most Beautiful issue since 1990, the year it started.
  • Michelle Pfeiffer, 1990 and 1999: The actress who shot to fame with her performance in Scarface, topped the first ever Most Beautiful list in 1990, and then again in 1999.
  • Jennifer Lopez, 2011: Known for her bootilicious figure, JLo is the only Latina to have been named Most Beautiful Woman. The mother of two is currently judging reality show Q'Viva! The Chosen, and has a new romance with actor-dancer Casper Smart after her marriage to Marc Anthony ended in July 2011.
  • Julia Roberts, 1991, 2000, 2005 and 2010: Pretty Woman Julia Roberts has been named Most Beautiful Woman not once, but a record four times. That's not all, the Oscar winning actress has made People magazine's list of 50 Most Beautiful People in the World eleven times.
  • Christina Applegate, 2009: Christina had the most inspiring story of any celebrity in 2009. After a long battle with breast cancer, the actress underwent a double mastectomy, followed by reconstructive surgery. She called the experience a "roller coaster of emotions ... a decision that you made to save your life."
  • Kate Hudson, 2008: The magazine editors chose the Almost Famous star for her natural beauty, pointing out that the actress "doesn't owe her famous sun-kissed looks to thousands of hours logged at a spa." The actress also won the Style Icon Award at the Elle Style Awards that same year.
  • Drew Barrymore, 2007: Drew Barrymore beat contenders like Scarlett Johannson, Jennifer Aniston and Halle Berry for the top spot in the list in 2007.

    In an interview to People Magazine she had said, "I feel beautiful right after I've worked out and I'm sweating all over the place and my face is two different colors of white and red and my hair is half wet, half dry and I look like I'm about to have a heart attack. I feel like I've changed the shape of my body temporarily into something more flexible and strong."
  • Angelina Jolie, 2006: By 2006, Angie was at the top of her game. She was on the arm of Brad Pitt, had adopted two children and was pregnant for the first time, appeared in a string of hit films and started her career as a goowill ambassador for the UN. There really could be nobody else on the cover of People that year..
  • Jennifer Aniston, 2004:The Friends star was a cinch for the top spot for her amazing body, much envied hair and girl-next-door sex appeal.
  • Halle Berry, 2003: The actress was the first black woman to top the list. Another first for Halle, who became the first black winner of the Best Actress Oscar the year before for Monster's Ball.
  • Nicole Kidman, 2002: Hollywood's best known Australian import was top girl after starring as ill fated showgirl Satine in Moulin Rouge, a film for which she received her first Oscar nomination.
  • Catherine Zeta-Jones, 2001: Raven haired Catherine was the girl of the moment in 2001. She had just married actor Michael Douglas, and had high profile roles in The Mask Of Zorro, Entrapment and Traffic. She was also about to begin shooting for Chicago, for which she would go on to win Best Supporting Actress at the Oscars in 2003.
  • Courteney Cox, 1995: The Friends star was also named Hottest Babe by Playboy magazine the same year. "She has amazing eyes and a dazzling, killer smile. Also, great arms and hands which are strong but feminine," said her co-star David Schwimmer.
  • Meg Ryan, 1994: The Sleepless in Seattle star known for her short hair and confident stride believes "beauty is a very oddball subject to talk about in terms of yourself."

    One of Hollywood's most bankable and well-liked stars was described as a 'wild-pony beauty' by a US daily.
  • Cindy Crawford, 1993: Among the first knot of ‘supers,' Cindy's instantly recognizable face with it's mole, full head of hair and lithe body still remains the ideal of feminine beauty today. Back then, there were few who could compete. She's the only non-actress to have topped the list.
  • Jodie Foster, 1992: Jodie Foster had just won an Oscar for her role in Silence of the Lambs. The actress, who does most of her stunts on her own, insisted her career has never hinged on her appearance while commenting about her selection.
