Pretty Paris talks business

Dressed in a coral jersey gown by Indian designer Rocky S, socialite-model-actress Paris Hilton launched her own line of bags in India.

The Hilton Hotels & Resorts heiress flaunts one of her creations.

Perhaps to reaffirm her love for Indian clothes, she chose a gown that draped around like a saree.

Even more Indian was her thick, three-layered diamond neckpiece. She completed her look with a formal black clutch.

The bags will be priced between Rs. 2000 and Rs.11,000, making them a whole lot more affordable than other designer brands.

The collection, which includes totes, clutches, stings and everyday bags, will be available in a whole melange of colours, ranging from black and brown to even peach-pink and silver.

For now, the bags will be available at only two stores in Mumbai.

Paris Hilton is in India on her very first visit and she is floored by the warmth and richness of Indian culture and people.

"I am very happy to be here. India is an amazing place. I have heard from a lot of friends who have come here before that coming to India changes your life because it is a spiritual and magical place," she said.

Paris Hilton spoke exclusively to NDTV about her maiden trip to India and said that this is her first of many trips to the country.

"When I came out of the airport in the morning, there were so many people waiting...much more than what I was expecting. I can`t wait to come back!" she said.

She called her first visit to the country as "spiritual and magical".

"I have come to India to launch my line of bags. I had been wanting to come to India for a very long time because it is an incredible market. But I just didn`t get time before," the designer and socialite told the press.

One of the most fashion-savvy media personalities of the day, she was seen dressed in a peach-pink dress, which resembled the drape of a sari.

Besides adding an Indian touch to her dress, the style icon teamed up her saree dress with a three-layered uncut diamond neck piece, and completed the look with a black clutch.

Her line of bags, launched in association with Brand Concepts Pvt Ltd, looked as stylish as the designer herself. The bags will be priced between Rs 2,000- Rs 11,000 and will be available for purchase at two stores in Mumbai.

The range boasts of clutches, totes, slings and regular handbags in colours like black, brown, white, peach-pink and silver.

The American socialite will be in the city till September 27.

Paris Hilton is set to shock her fans with her Indian makeover!

The 30-year-old hotel heiress and socialite, who will arrive in Mumbai on Saturday to launch her new line of handbags, has posed in what is perhaps here most 'clothed' outing yet - a saree.

The Stars Are Blind singer has gone in for six yards of desi bling, which is by far the largest piece of fabric Paris has ever worn. The Hilton heiress has worn the saree for the fashion glossy Marie Claire's October Bridal Special Issue.

In the shoot, conducted by the celebrated lensman, Mark Arbeit, she dons a Tarun Tahiliani saree.

"I am obsessed with Indian designers. I love the whole Swarovski bling and all those crystals. It is gorgeous and yes, maybe I have designs on some of them for my next outing on the red carpet," she told Marie Claire India in an interview recently.

Designer Rocky S will be styling her during her visit.

The party-hopping socialite will be in the city from September 24 to 26, to launch her line of handbags and accessories.

On her first trip to India, the 'self-made' American celebrity, who has a slew of reality shows to her credit, finds no takers to feature her in an Indian talk show!

"This will be my first trip to Mumbai. I've never been to India before, " she had recently tweeted.

The Lady in White Simi Garewal, who was reportedly approached to feature Paris on her show, Simi Selects India's Most Desirable has declined. And producer-director and fellow-host Karan Johar too refused to host Paris Hilton because he didn't want to ask her previously approved questions.

"Simi was informed that there were only initial talks with Karan Johar, but no agreement was settled and no interview with him is happening. Apparently, Karan did not want to do an interview where the questions would be dictated to him. As a result, they were keen that Simi do the Paris interview as she had also featured Lady Gaga on her show. But Simi does not want to be a last-minute second choice, " a source said.

It's no big secret that Paris Hilton's favourite colour is pink, and it will be high on the minds of chefs of JW Marriott, Mumbai, which will host Hilton from September 24 to 26.

The hotel is preparing signature dishes, incorporating her favourite colour, pink. This includes pink cupcakes and a signature Pink cocktail besides other special items.

Hilton was born in New York, on February 17, 1981. Her father is Richard Hilton, a businessman, and her mother is Kathy Hilton (née Avanzino), a socialite and actress.

Hilton grew up with three siblings: Nicholai Olivia 'Nicky' Hilton, Barron Nicholas Hilton II, and Conrad Hughes Hilton III.

She is of Norwegian, German Irish ancestry and Italian ancestry. Hilton is a niece of two child stars of the 1970s, Kim and Kyle Richards.

Hilton moved between several exclusive homes in her youth, including a suite in the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel on Manhattan, Beverly Hills, and the Hamptons.

As a child she was good friends with other socialites as Nicole Richie and Kim Kardashian.

She attended her freshman year of high school at the Marywood-Palm Valley School in Rancho Mirage, California followed by a short time at Convent of the Sacred Heart (which she attended with Lady Gaga) and the Dwight School in New York for her sophomore and junior years.

She was then transferred to the Canterbury Boarding School, in New Milford, Connecticut where she was a member of the ice hockey team.

However, in early 1999, she was expelled for violating the school rules. Hilton later earned her GED.

Hilton began modeling as a child, initially at charity events.

When she was 19, she signed with Donald Trump's modeling agency, T Management.

Hilton has also worked with Ford Models in New York, Models 1 Agency in London, Nous Model Management in Los Angeles, and Premier Model Management in London.

She has appeared in numerous advertising campaigns, including Iceberg Vodka, GUESS, Tommy Hilfiger, Christian Dior, and Marciano.

In 2001, Hilton began to develop a reputation as a socialite, being identified as 'New York's leading It Girl' whose fame was beginning to 'extend beyond the New York tabloids'.

She has appeared in several magazines, including the April 2004 issue of Maxim.

Hilton has worked as a model, actress, singer, and engaged in occasional business pursuits. According to Forbes Magazine, she earned approximately $2 million in 2003–2004, $6.5 million in 2004–2005, and $7 million in 2005–2006.

Hilton has made cameo appearances in several films, notably Zoolander, Wonderland, and The Cat In The Hat.

She landed minor and supporting roles in the feature films Nine Lives, Raising Helen, The Hillz, and House of Wax.

Her role as Paige Edwards in House of Wax won the Teen Choice Award for 'Best Scream' and earned her a nomination for 'Choice Breakout Performance – Female. (It also won her the 2005 Razzie for 'Worst Supporting Actress' at the 2005 Golden Raspberry Awards.) She also earned a nomination for 'Best Frightened Performance' at the 2006 MTV Movie Awards.

Hilton has also guest-starred in episodes of the popular tv-show The O.C., The George Lopez Show, Las Vegas, American Dreams, Dogg After Dark, and Veronica Mars. Furthermore, she appeared in several music videos, including 'It Girl' by John Oates and 'Just Lose It' by Eminem. Planning is underway for an eponymous cartoon series following the animated life of Hilton, her sister Nicky, and her dog Tinkerbell, which began filming in September 2007.

Hilton founded Heiress Records, a sub-label of Warner Bros. Records, in 2004 and released her self-titled debut album, Paris, under that label on August 22, 2006. Although the album reached number six on the Billboard 200 for a week, its total sales volume has been low - but the first single 'Stars Are Blind' was a top ten hit in 17 countries. Allmusic commented that the album was "more fun than anything released by Britney Spears or Jessica Simpson, and a lot fresher, too." As a whole, critical reception was mixed.

In 2004, Hilton was involved in the creation of a perfume line by Parlux Fragrances. After the success of Hilton's perfume, Parlux Fragrances released several more perfumes with her name, including fragrances for men. Paris Hilton launched a new fragrance in October 2007, called Can Can. This is her fourth women's fragrance after Paris Hilton, Just Me, and Heiress. During the month of November 2008, Paris Hilton released her fifth fragrance for women called, Fairy Dust. In July 2009, her sixth fragrance for women Siren was launched.

In December 2007, Hilton posed nude, covered in gold paint, to promote 'Rich Prosecco', a canned version of an Italian sparkling wine. She also traveled to Germany to promote the drink, appearing in various print ads for the product. In February 2010, Hilton participates in an advertising campaign for the launch of the Brazilian beer Devassa. Despite her many talents, Hilton seems to find it hard to hold on to her boyfriends and has generally had a chequered love life. She was engaged to fashion model Jason Shaw from mid-2002 to early 2003. In 2003-2004 she had a relationship with singer Nick Carter. Later she was engaged to Greek shipping heir Paris Latsis, from May 29, 2005 to November 2005. Thereafter, she began dating another Greek shipping heir, Stavros Niarchos III, before breaking up in May 2006.

Hilton loves small dogs, and lives with a Yorkshire Terrier and a female Chihuahua named Tinkerbell. Paris Hilton is frequently seen carrying Tinkerbell (dubbed an "accessory dog") at social events and functions. In 2004, Tinkerbell 'authored' a memoir, The Tinkerbell Hilton Diaries. On August 12, 2004, Tinkerbell went missing after Hilton's apartment was burgled, and a $5,000 reward was offered for her safe return. She was found six days later. Hilton has also purchased a male Chihuahua on July 25, 2007 from Pets of Bel Air in Los Angeles.

A homemade sex video of Hilton and then-boyfriend Rick Salomon was leaked on the Internet in 2003, later released as the DVD 1 Night in Paris despite attempted legal action. It appeared a week prior to the premiere of The Simple Life.

In 2007 another tape surfaced, this time showing Paris naked in the bath. According to British tabloid The Sun, the footage was discovered after 'Paris forgot to pay the rent on her storage vault'. A website called Parisexposed.com then released the footage on the net, although Paris obtained a temporary injunction against them.

On the same day that Hilton was released from jail, Judge Michael Sauer summoned her to reappear in court the following morning (June 8) as the sentencing statement had explicitly said she would serve time in jail with "No work furlough. No work release. No electronic monitoring." He sent her back to jail to serve out her original 45-day sentence. Upon hearing the sentence, Hilton shouted, "It's not right!" and started screaming, requesting to hug her mother who was present in the courtroom. Concern about Hilton's condition led to her being moved to the medical wing of the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles, and she was moved back to the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood on June 13.

Despite the promise to make a new beginning, Hilton was back in the news again for all the wrong reasons after exposing her undergarments during Valentine Day week in Brazil. A visibly drunk Paris was seen at the launch of Devassa beer in Rio De Janeiro in an aubergine coloured dress that left little to the imagination.
