Preview: Lamhaa

Sanjay Dutt, Bipasha Basu and Kunal Kapoor starrer movie Lamhaa is a social-action thriller is a story about an army man in Kashmir. The movie throws light on terrorism and the Indian army's fight against it.

Sanjay Dutt plays Vikram, an M.I. officer who is sent to the valley on a confidential, dangerous and investigative mission. Kashmir is going to burn; and he has to stop it. To succeed, he has to expose the politics of power single-handedly and against all odds.

Bipasha Basu palys Aziza, a strong minded, intuitive and aggressive girl. Aziza has been the champion of the Azad Kashmir movement since she was six.

Whilst investigating an attack on her mentor Haji (Anupam Kher), she meets Gul Jehangir, and together they uncover some brutal remains from the past, which land her in a life threatening situation.

Kunal Kapoor plays Aatif, who was once a militant, he is now a youth leader. Aatif's story is that of many Kashmiri's today. In 1990 most youths took to arms, and trained in Pakistan to fight for Azad Kashmir. Around the turn of the century, they realized that the fight for freedom was hijacked by foreign mercenaries, politicians and Intel officers from around the world.

Today people like Aatif are disillusioned and angry. They are a generation that fought for what they Believed in and some even died for their belief; unfortunately for them the biggest casualty in this war is the common Kashmiri. Aatif wants to see Kashmir free, but he wants to fight in his own unconventional manner.

Anupam Kher plays Haji, who has been fighting for Azad Kashmir for over two decades. Wily, astute and a people's person, Haji is on the payroll of both ISI and R.A.W. He is the most powerful separatist leader in the valley.

The film is produced by Bunty Walia (seen in the picture with Sanjay Dutt) and Jaspreet Singh.

Lamhaa is written and directed by National-award winning director Rahul Dholakia (seen in the picture with Sanjay Dutt and Bipasha Basu).

Sultry actress Bipasha Basu, known for her sexy figure and hot bod, opted for a plain look in the movie.

Bips, who portrays the role of a simple Kashmiri girl in the film, says she will be able to end the stereortype image of the Kashmiri women.

Bipasha Basu, who was findting it difficult to converse in Urdu, has actually dubbed for the film in Urdu.

Since Lamhaa tackles the sensitive issue of militancy in Kashmir, Rahul Dholakia is pretty adamant on getting every nuance right.

Sanjay Dutt in one of his interviews said he felt nostalgic when they went to shoot for Lamhaa in Kashmir.

The movie will be released on July 16, 2010.
