Ranveer Singh Bhavnani was born on July 6, 1985 to Jagjit Singh and Anju Bhavnani. He has an elder sister named Ritika and actor Sonam Kapoor is a distant cousin. Ranveer recently co-starred with Sonam's actor-father Anil Kapoor in Dil Dhadakne Do. He also shares a warm friendship with Sonam's cousin Arjun Kapoor, his co-star from Gunday.

Ranveer made his Bollywood debut with Yash Raj Films Band Baaja Baaraat, opposite Anushka Sharma who he reportedly dated for a while. The film was a hit and Ranveer's performance was praised. Ranveer also bagged the Best Male Debut trophy at the Filmfare Awards.

He was next seen in YRF's Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, in which he was seen as a suave conman. The film paired him once again with Anushka, along with actresses Parineeti Chopra, Dipannita Sharma and Aditi Sharma. Ranveer once again won over the critics and audience with his performance.

After starring in two similar roles, Ranveer starred in Vikramaditya Motwane's Lootera, in which he played the role a conman (again) but a far less subdued character unlike his previous roles. The film was loosely based on O Henry's The Last Leaf and also starred Sonakshi Sinha. The film was a critical success.

With Gunday co-star Arjun, Ranveer appeared as the subject of the controversial AIB Roast earlier this year. Despite praise from several quarters, an edited version of the show was taken off YouTube after allegations of obscenity and an FIR being filed against all those involved.
