Rajanna is a mix of history and fiction, set against the freedom struggle and the Razakars movement, inspired by real events.

Rajanna, played by Telugu superstar Nagarjuna, inspires the people with his patriotic songs. He is a balladeer and his songs bring confidence in the people to rise and fight.

Rajanna dies fighting. He has a young daughter Mallamma (played by Baby Annie). She is saved by her music teacher Nasser from the evil Dorasani (Swetha Menon).

Mallamma learns music from Nasser and on hearing tales about her valiant father, is inspired to fight for the people and their freedom. Nasser takes her to Delhi to meet the Prime Minister, to draw his attention to the plight of the people in the region.

Dorasani sends her goons to Delhi and they catch Mallamma before she can meet the Prime Minister. What happens next is for you to find out.

Baby Annie is superb in her portrayal of Mallamma, Rajanna's daughter.

The film has a good story, screenplay and the direction seamlessly weaves history and fiction together. The music and background score is noteworthy and the song Veyyi… Veyyi… is outstanding.
