There was a time when director Suseenthiran made small-budget films in a very smart way. But his first big-budget masala movie Rajapattai, fails to impress. -
In his earlier movies namely - Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu, Naan Mahan Alla and Azhagarsamiyin Kudhirai, strong story and powerful screenplay helped the movies sail through. But these vital factors seemed to be missing in Rajapattai. -
The story of the movie is very weak and the screenplay is very predictable. -
With a big star like Vikram playing the lead, it was expected that Suseenthiran would come out with a convincing 'commercial' script, but that sadly didn't happen. -
Rajapattai is about a fitness freak Anal Murugan (Vikram), who wants to become a big villain in films. -
He is a happy-go-lucky youngster, Murugan falls for Dharshini (Deeksha Seth). -
During the course of the story Murugan meets Dakshinamoorthy (Viswanath) - a senior citizen, who runs an orphanage. The elderly man is threatened by a set of evil people, who want him to vacate the property. -
Murugan decides to bail out Dakshinamoorthy from the problem. -
Vikram puts in his best from the beginning till end. In 17 different get-ups, the actor simply walks away with with all the applauds. -
Leading lady Deeksha Seth looks good, but gets less scope to perform. -
Viswanath displays his experience on screen. -
Madhie's cinematography is like a colourful collage. -
Yuvan Shankar Raja's songs are okay, but do watch out for a special song featuring Vikram, Reemma Sen and Shriya Saran.
