Rokkkin' Tanushree turns 29

Tanushree Dutta is a Bengali bombshell waiting to explode. Dutta, who is back on the silver screen after a gap of almost two years with the horror flick Rokkk, said in an interview that she was unduly stereotyped as mere eye candy who could do nothing but 'hot and sultry' roles.

The 29-year-old actress was born on March 19, 1981.

Tanushree was born and brought up in Jamshedpur and went on to do her graduation from Pune.

In 2004 she participated in the Miss India contest and was crowned Miss India Universe.

Tanushree represented India at the Miss Universe pageant in 2004.

Tanushree was one of the 80 contestants at the 53rd Miss Universe held at Quito, Ecuador.

Though she didn't win the crown, Tanushree made it to the final 10 in the contest.

She made her Bollywood debut with the 2005 film Aashiq Banaya Aapne.

Her steamy scenes with Emraan Hashmi in the film created quite a sensation.

Tanushree then ventured to the South for her first Telugu film, Veerabhadra.

She was cast opposite Nandamuri Balakrishna.

Tanushree played the role of the villain's sister in the film.

Tanushree's next Bollywood film was Chocolate: Deep Dark Secrets.

Chocolate again starred Tanushree opposite Emraan Hashmi.

She did a cameo role in the 2006 movie 36 China Town.

Tanushree appeared along with Akshay Kumar and Govinda in the comedy flick Bhagam Bhag.

The 2007 action film Risk had Tanushree playing the role of Randeep Hooda's girlfriend.

In Good Boy, Bad Boy she paired up again with Emraan Hashmi. The film also starred Tusshar Kapoor.

Tanushree played the part of a manipulative and promiscuous girl in the film.

The 2007 romantic musical film Raqeeb had Tanushree opposite three heroes: Rahul Khanna, Jimmy Shergill and Sharman Joshi.

The film was a love quadrilateral with three men vying for Tanushree's affections.

Tanushree again went back to comedy with Dhol. The film had four suitors trying to woo her.

The action comedy Speed had Tanushree opposite Zayed Khan.

Tanushree next appeared in the comedy Saas Bahu Aur Sensex.

Tanushree's forthcoming release Rama - The Saviour had been in the making for quite a while.

Saahil Khan and WWE's Khali also appear alongside Tanushree in Rama - The Saviour.

Tanushree is also working on Jagmohan Mundhra's Apartment.

According to reports Tanushree will be seen in a whole new avatar in the film.

She recently appeared in Theeradha Vilaiyattu Pillai, a Tamil romantic comedy, along with Vishal Krishna and Neetu Chandra.

Tanushree's latest release Rokkk is a supernatural thriller.

In 2007, a photograph of hers appeared on a porn site. Tanushree was incensed and threatened legal action against the website.

Though, in comparison to other Bollywood actresses, Tanushree has appeared in only a few films she earned for herself the tag of a sex symbol.

She has also appeared on the cover of a number of magazines including Maxim.
