Salman Khan Acquitted, Family by His Side

Actor Salman Khan was photographed on his way to the Bombay High Court on December 10. The court had asked him to be present when it pronounced its verdict in the appeal against his conviction in the 2002 hit-and-run case. The actor can't be convicted on the basis of evidence produced, the judge said in his comments that appeared to signal a major reprieve for the Bollywood superstar.

Actor Salman Khan and his sister Alvira were photographed at the Bombay High Court on December 10. The court acquitted the actor in the 2002 hit-and-run case, absolving him of all charges and overturning his conviction by a sessions court in May.

Salman Khan's brother-in-law Aayush Sharma, husband of his younger sister Arpita, also accompanied him.
Salman, dressed in a checked shirt, was flanked by policemen on either side.
Salman's bodyguard Shera also accompanied the actor.

Salman looked rather grim as he emerged from the court.
He looked even more serious as he was driven away to Galaxy Apartments, his sea-facing home in Bandra.
Earlier, bystanders clung to the iron fencing of the Bombay High Court, waiting for a glimpse of Salman Khan.

The actor reached court directly from Mumbai's Karjat Studio where he had been filming Sultan.
Salman's father, writer Salim Khan was also spotted arriving in court in the afternoon.
Salim Khan seemed more relaxed, a stark contrast from his tense expression when Salman was convicted by the sessions court in May.

Salman's sister Arpita Khan Sharma was the only family member at Galaxy Apartments.
Fans of Salman gathered outside Galaxy Apartments soon after the verdict was announced.
They were held back by barricades and the security.
In Bhopal, jubilant fans of Salman Khan danced on the streets, holding posters of their favourite actor.
