Same-To-Same: Copycat Aishwarya Outshines Kristin
Wearing a dress already seen on someone else is one of the worst celebrity fashion sins there is so what on earth could have made Aishwarya Rai Bachchan pick the same gold Roberto Cavalli for Cannes that singer-actress Kristin Chenoweth wore to the Oscars?

Wearing a dress already seen on someone else is one of the worst celebrity fashion sins there is so what on earth could have made Aishwarya Rai Bachchan pick the same gold Roberto Cavalli for Cannes that singer-actress Kristin Chenoweth wore to the Oscars?
The short answer is – she looks like a million bucks in it, way more fabulous than Kristin did.
Ash was at the premiere of Two Days, One Night at Cannes on May 20.
Coming Up: That Dress Again: Jennifer Lopez Copies Herself -
At the 2014 Billboard Music Awards, Jennifer Lopez decided to turn back time and recreate the look for which she will always be remembered - her sheer green palm leaf Versace dress, with neckline plunging below the navel which she wore to the 2000 Grammy Awards - which became etched in public memory for posterity. Cut to circa 2014, the designer is Donna Karan and the colour red, but everything else is mostly the same, from the sheer fabric to the plunging neckline. Her face and curvy figure don't seem to have changed a bit either.
Coming up - Same-to-same: Deepika's ditto dress -
Lovely as Deepika Padukone looked in her black and gold Alexander McQueen dress at the Screen Awards in Mumbai on January 14, she couldn't outshine Hollywood star Kate Hudson's stellar appearance at the Golden Globes 2013. We're not sure why Deepika picked a dress that made a red carpet splash a whole year ago – that's fashion death for celebrities.
And while one might say a McQueen is a McQueen, the styling – an unbroken expanse of black, earrings that battled the embroidered collar - did her no favours. Kate, on the other hand, added a touch of genius with a jeweled belt and gold clutch, and stayed away from distracting jewellery.
We'll give this one to Kate.
Deepika seems to be making a habit of wearing seen-before dresses to the Screen Awards. Last year, she wore a Dolce & Gabbana lace gown very similar to what Kylie Minogue had worn to an event in October 2012.
In need of a few new tricks, Deepika?
Coming Up: At Ascot, Ash looked like Audrey -
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's dress at the 2013 Ascot horse races in England took us back in time to circa 1964 when Audrey Hepburn wore her iconic Ascot dress in the film My Fair Lady.
Ash looked almost as divine in her white and black lace dress as Audrey Hepburn did in her white lace sheath with black and white striped ribbon bows. The original dress, which she wore to the Ascot scene in the film, was created by British costume designer Cecil Beaton and earned him the Oscar for best costume design. It is regarded as one of the greatest movie dresses of all times.
Aishwarya's dress is shorter and the hat is much less overwhelming, but we'd say it's a great update on Audrey's take.
Coming up: Did Marge Simpson inspire Ash's Cannes look? -
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan almost had us at hello in blue Gucci and pink lips on day 7 of the Cannes festival. Almost but not quite.
That towering hairdo completely ruined what could have been a great look and worse, brought to mind a certain animated missus from our TV screens.
Coming up: Don't miss the train Deepika, Kajol didn't -
Life seems to have come full circle for Shah Rukh Khan. 18 years ago, he was on a train, with a beautiful young woman racing down the platform towards him. Cut to 2013, and he's on a train again, with a beautiful young woman in hot pursuit. Only, it's not the same beautiful young woman. Will Deepika Padukone catch her train in Chennai Express? Kajol did, with a little help from SRK, all those years ago in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. All will be revealed on August 8 when Rohit Shetty's Chennai Express releases.
Coming up: Same-to-same: Sally, Hilary and red Valentino -
Best Supporting Actress Oscar nominee Sally Field picked the perfect dress when she chose floaty red Valentino. Trouble is, Hilary Swank had the same idea. At the Vanity Fair after-party, both actresses found themselves in the same room, wearing almost identical dresses – considered the ultimate fashion sin in celebrity circles. However, Sally didn't seem too perturbed by the inadvertent fashion faux-pas, even pulling up her dress cheerfully to show the cameras that she'd swapped her high heels for comfy trainers.
Coming up: Same-to-same - Big B, Shilpa and a shawl -
Amitabh Bachchan was spotted at an event in Mumbai wearing an embroidered shawl. But wait, didn't we see the same shawl on Shilpa Shetty earlier? Yes, the actress wore an identical shawl at a movie outing in Mumbai. Who knew?! (Image courtesy: Mid-Day.com
Coming Up: Same-to-same: Deepika copies Kylie -
Deepika Padukone was a sheer delight in this green Dolce & Gabbana lace gown at the 19th Screen Awards held in Mumbai. But wait, that dress looks very familiar. We last saw a version of it on singer Kylie Minogue at the New York Film Festival in October last year. Deepika's neckline, sleeves and bodysuit seem a tad bit less revealing than Kylie, but other than that it's a dead ringer.
Coming Up: Copy Kat: Kareena already wore that sari -
Katrina Kaif was looking gorgeous in a nude net Manish Malhotra sari on the sets of India's Got Talent where she was promoting new movie Jab Tak Hai Jaan. But unfortunately for Kat, we have long memories and we dug out an image of Kareena Kapoor who wore a similar sari at the unveiling of her wax statue at Madame Tussauds in October 2011. Manish Malhotra is a close friend of Kareena's and her favourite designer.
Same-to-same: Lucky Morani copies Sonam Kapoor. -
Remember Sonam Kapoor in a pac-man print sari by Yogesh Chaudhary and matching earrings at the unveiling of Star Week's 3rd anniversary issue last month? Somebody other than us liked it so much she went out and got herself an outfit in the same print. Producer Mohammed Morani's wife Lucky picked a salwar-kameez in the same fabric to wear at a magazine launch. Is it a case of imitation being the most sincere form of flattery?
Coming Up: Same to same: Black lace and lots of skin. -
One look at Sparkle actress Carmen Ejogo's daringly low black lace gown and we were reminded of Victoria's Secret model Anja Rubik's revealing black Emilio Pucci burnout dress at Cannes earlier this year. And that dress reminded us then of Azaan actress Candice Boucher's dress, which left a trail of dropped jaws in her wake, from Cannes 2011.
Carmen wore her's to the premiere of Sparkle, and, naturally, had all eyes on her.
Coming Up: Same to same: Sonakshi, Bipasha and black lace. -
Bongshell Bipasha Basu looked ever so gorgeous in a body con black lace dress by Rocky S at the recent launch of her soon-to-release thriller Raaz 3. But just a month ago, the very Dabangg Sonakshi Sinha had also worn a similar dress by Jatin Varma at the Rowdy Rathore party. Sonakshi had her up, Bipasha had her's down.
We like Bipasha better but who's your favourite? Vote here:
Coming Up: Repeat offender Parineeti needs fashion tips from Priyanka -
Fashion follies from a Chopra sister? Priyanka's polished style seems to have completely passed Parineeti by. When you're being touted as Bollywood's next big thing, the least you can do is dress the part and step out in the same indigo jeans and nude shoes you wore just two months ago to the NDTV-Toyota Greenathon in May.
That's just what PC Jr has done. Buy some new clothes, missy. And get big sister to give you some style advice.

Coming up: Priyanka Chopra copies Sonam Kapoor -
Priyanka Chopra's white flower-pompom embellished Dolce & Gabbana impressed red carpet watchers at IIFA weekend. But wait, while flipping through our old photos we came across Sonam Kapoor in this rich, berry hued strapless gown. Your take, which is your favourite colour - white or berry?
Coming Up: Is this Akshay or Aamir?
-
Who's that gyrating in a red sari in a song that begins Chammak Challo? No, it's not Kareena. It's Sonakshi Sinha in a song called Chamak challo chail chabeeli from Rowdy Rathore.
The inevitable comparisons with Bebo's Chammak Challo have followed but Sonakshi has brushed them aside and insists it's just coincidence.
"I am not just Chammak Challo, I am also Chail Chabeeli,” she says. But really Sonakshi, a red sari plus the exact same song name – what are the chances?
Coming Up: Same-to-same: Kim K wears Gwyneth's dress -
Reality TV star Kim Kardashian stunned at Cannes last night in a midriff baring black mesh Emilio Pucci gown. But wait a minute, we remember seeing Gwyneth Paltrow in the same dress last year, at the Emmy Awards. You pick, who wore it better?
Coming Up:A whole lotta Tusshar, John-style
-
Remember John Abraham emerging from the sea in tiny yellow trunks in Dostana? Get this - Tusshar Kapoor is going to spoof the scene in raunchy comedy Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum. Here he is, all buff and brawny. Word is, Tusshar went on a strict diet plan for two months to look his best. Should John be worried? We don't think so. But Tusshar did earn wolf whistles from the audience that gathered to watch him film the scene at a Goan beach, including co-star Neha Sharma.
Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum is a sequel to 2005's hit movie, Kyaa Kool Hai Hum, and features Tusshar Kapoor and Riteish Deshmukh in the lead roles.
Coming Up: Same-to-same: Kareena copies Jacqueline -
Kareena Kapoor sizzled in a red hot dress at a event in Mumbai, as she posed with her real life beau Saif Ali Khan in front of the camera. While the outfit looked great on Bebo, we remember Jacqueline Fernandez wearing the same dress way back last year at a fashion event.
Ahead: Was Angie trying to outdo Jen?
-
Angelina Jolie and her now (in)famous leg flashing black Versace number may have found inspiration in love rival Jennifer Aniston's equally thigh baring Valentino from Golden Globes 2010. Plus, similarly asymmetrical necklines, loose hair and minimal accessories. Looks like Angie still has a point to prove.
Coming Up: Emma Stone looks very like Nicole Kidman. -
This year at the Oscars, Emma Stone was definitely on the best dressed list in Giambattista Valli. But was she more than a little inspired by Nicole Kidman's fire engine red Balenciaga from Oscar 2008?
Coming Up: Priyanka copies Frieda.
-
Priyanka Chopra wore a light blue Ferragamo gown this weekend for the Filmfare Awards and won many hearts but she is not the only stunner in this gown. Slumdog Millionaire actor Freida Pinto has already wowed everyone in the fuchsia version of the custom gown she wore at the Doha Tribeca Film Festival last October. Who's your choice?
Coming Up: Gauri copies Chitrangada. -
Gauri Khan is always a delight to watch when she steps out, especially since she is acknowledged as a trendsetter. So we were taken aback to see Mrs Khan in a black sequin skirt paired with a white top at Farhan Akhtar's birthday, since the look has already been seen on Chitrangada Singh at the premiere of Desi Boyz in November last year.
Who's your favourite?
Coming Up: Kim K copies Preity. -
Look who copied our desi kudi Preity Zinta this year, none other than reality TV star Kim Kardashian.
Kim K, who recently announced her separation from husband Kris Humphries, was enjoying New Year's Eve in Las Vegas wearing a white Gucci dress. But surprise, surprise! Our dimpled beauty had already worn it at the Venice Film Festival in 2011. No prizes for guessing that our Punjabi kudi takes the cake but if you had to choose who would it be? Vote! -
We loved Rani Mukherjee at Farah Khan's housewarming party, dressed in a white Sabyasachi suit with a short printed jacket. However, it reminded us of new mom Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who had worn the same suit while promoting Raavan in Delhi last year. Who gets a thumbs up?
Coming Up: Shazahn copies Bipasha.
-
The very stylish Shazahn Padamsee stepped out in a red number for an event on Wednesday but one look and it reminded us of Players actress Bipasha Basu, who had worn the Nandita Mahtani creation at the Speedy Singhs bash hosted by Akshay Kumar in September this year. So who gets the thumbs up? Your Vote!
Coming Up: Stars dressing same-to-same
-
A saucy Vidya Balan during a promotion of her soon-to-release film The Dirty Picture, reminded us of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's sizzling avatar for the London premiere of Provoked, four years ago. While Ash was red hot, Vidya looked loud but still managed to impress us with her "In Character" appearance.
-
Deepika Padukone is on our same-to-same list for the second time in a row. First she wore an Abu-Jani suit similar to what new-mom Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had already worn. This time she impressed all with her golden sequin top and short skirt at the premiere of her new release Desi Boyz but we were disappointed to see that pretty lady Dia Mirza has already worn it a few months ago for the Vogue awards.
Deepika, you need a new stylist, fast! -
Then mom-to-be Aishwarya Rai Bachchan looked gorgeous when she stepped out in a black Abu-Jani suit with golden embroidery to celebrate the designer duo's 25 years in the fashion industry. Just four days later, Deepika Padukone wore the same suit, though with a different neckline, for the DY Patil Awards held on Sunday (13.11.11) evening.
So who wore it better? Vote now! -
Desi stylista Sonam Kapoor impressed all when she walked the red carpet at Hello Hall of Fame Awards 2011 in a Gucci Fall 2011 but it suddenly reminded us of singer Jennifer Lopez, who had earlier worn this gown in fuchsia though, for the Met Gala in May this year. Who do you think wore it better? Ms Kapoor or JLo?
Coming Up: Other Fashion faceoffs! -
Bipasha should have really cleared her wardrobe with other ladies- especially her more affordable numbers. This time Ameesha pulled a 'copycat' on her.
Bipasha wore her Ramona Narang mini with gold accessories and straight hair, while the Patel girl wore hers canary yellow and with pink accessories. The actress tweeted, "Also last night a fellow actress landed up wearing the same dress in a diff color as me on d green carpet! It ws quite amusing even for me:)".
Who do you think looked hotter? -
Bollywood's emerging fashionista Anushka Sharma and timeless beauty Madhuri Dixit-Nene have been spotted in the same Valentino gown, albeit in a different shade, in this month's L'Officiel and Vogue magazines respectively. Blame it on the stylist?
-
Salman Khan's younger sister Arpita, who celebrated her birthday over the weekend with great fanfare, was spotted in a Falguni and Shane Peacock dress which she paired with Jimmy Choo sandals. But the outfit Arpita chose was similar to what bhai Sallu's ex, Katrina Kaif, had worn for Dabboo Ratnani's 2011 calendar shoot.
Who do you think wore it better? -
Sushmita Sen has a new style rival – Mallika Sherawat. Sounds implausible? This is what happened - Sush stepped out in a Karen Millen dress for the "I Am She" contest this weekend. The dress was spotted a month ago on Mallika, during the promotions for Double Dhamaal.
Both Mallika and Sush paired it with grey heels, though Sush comes out on top for us.
Coming up, more fashion face-offs. -
Now, we know sisters share everything. In this appearance at Lakme Fashion Week 2011, looks like Rhea dug in Sonam's closet for some preppy stuff but forgot to ask the fashionista how to wear it. Mid-way between Annie Hall and the kurti, Rhea is lost somewhere.
-
Katrina Kaif and Lara Dutta are vying for the title of Bollywood's Most Stylish, in almost identical Herve Leger bandage dresses. The necklines may be slightly different, but our fashion police demands a face-off!
-
The black Just Cavalli has been around in almost every top actress' closet for the longest time. Deepika wore it first and best to the Zee Cine awards in 2008, following which Genelia took a pointer and also wore it with minimal jewellery next year to Filmfare.
-
Malaika Arora Khan wore a blue dress recently to Jackky Bhagnani's birthday bash which was similar to what actress Priyanka Chopra had worn for an episode of Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega.
Take a look at the other celebs who have made this fashion faux pas... -
Miss Earth Nicole Faria wore this shimmering number at her welcome back bash, but our lovely Kareena Kapoor had already been-there-done-that on the cover of the Filmfare magazine in April 2010.
