Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt returned to the Yerwada Jail in Pune on January 10 after the prison authorities rejected the plea for extending his furlough. Mr Dutt had sought an extension of 14 days after exhausting the two weeks granted to him by jail officials. The decision came after the Mumbai police sent its report to the Yerwada prison. Mr Dutt is serving his sentence after being convicted in the 1993 Bombay Blasts Case for illegal possession of weapons.

Actor Sanjay Dutt was photographed leaving his Mumbai home to return to Pune's Yerawada Jail where he is serving a five-year sentence in connection with the 1993 Bombay blasts. Dressed in striped shirt and jeans, Mr Dutt said goodbye to his wife Maanyata and four-year-old twins Iqra and Shahraan.

Mr Dutt, star of the hit Munna Bhai films, spent Christmas and New Year at home after being granted a two week leave from jail. He applied for an extension of two weeks which has not yet been granted. The actor, who has a role in current box office blockbuster PK, has been given leave on multiple occasions. Last winter, he spent a whole month at home.
