Karan Johar revealed that after a few mishaps on the sets of Student of The Year, the production team decided to perform a small puja on the sets.
Karan said that the film, which is set to release on October 19, deals with relationships rather than with romance.

According to reports, Alia Bhatt was quite upset with the first look trailer of the film as she thought she didn't get as warm a response as did the two boys.

In the first song from the film, The Disco Song, Varun, Alia and Sidharth are seen grooving to the track which is a recreated version of Nazia Hassan's 1981 hit, Disco Deewane.

Karan Johar is directing an all new cast in Student Of The Year, the first look of which he just unveiled in Mumbai. The film marks the Bollywood debut of Mahesh Bhatt's daughter Alia, David Dhawan's son Varun and model Siddharth Malhotra.
The teen movie is co-produced by Karan Johar's best friend and long-time collaborator, Shah Rukh Khan.
Varun and Siddharth worked as assistant directors to Karan Johar on 2010's My Name Is Khan.
Mahesh Bhatt's daughter Alia says she was not looking for a convenient entry into Bollywood and hence decided she did not want to be launched by dad Mahesh Bhatt.
Alia is the daughter of Mahesh Bhatt and actress Soni Razdan.

This is Karan's first time directing a movie that does not star SRK in the lead. "The film feels different from any other film that I have directed as I have worked with movie stars who don't need hand-holding. With these three newcomers, it was a journey like nurturing and parenting them," said KJo.
