SRK sells a fair dream
Shah Rukh Khan's latest television advertisement for a men’s fairness cream.
-
It’s just another day for Shah Rukh Khan in office.
-
This day, it is the shoot of his latest television advertisement for a men’s fairness cream.
-
Says Shah Rukh, “For me, it is an irony of sorts to be endorsing a product which says fair and handsome and I am neither fair nor handsome.”
-
Ok, not fair maybe, but not handsome? Explains SRK, “You do films and when your films do well then your reputation goes a long way and then people start thinking you are fair and handsome when you are not. You sell dreams like this.”
-
Point taken, sir, but we hope you aren’t selling a dream because that won’t be fair by any means. Would it?
-
Says he, “Most men buy a cream like that but they are too embarrassed to ask for it by name. It helps men to look after their skin in the sun, in the heat with the dust and it’s a men’s cream, that’s why it’s called fair and handsome.”
-
And what would be the other way to take care of one’s self? Shah Rukh has all the answers.
-
“I am the worst person to ask. I don’t sleep more than four hours, I drink a lot of black coffee. I don’t like to say this but I have one more bad habit that nobody should ever take up. I don’t look after myself at all, so far as health is concerned. So I am the wrong guy.”
-
He further adds, “But, I guess, one needs to do just the opposite of that, sleep well and I think work out, that’s nice.”
