Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who is on his maiden trip to Kashmir, worked his charm on fans and media as chaos broke out during his press conference in Srinagar. SRK has been busy shooting for Yash Chopra's new directorial venture in the Valley.

Looking dapper in a black tuxedo, King Khan said he'd fulfilled his father's dream by visiting the Valley. "It was always my father's dream to take me to Kashmir because his grandmother belonged to this place. Although I could not come here in his lifetime, yet, making it finally to Kashmir has been the fulfillment of a family dream. I am happy it has been finally realised," he said.

At 46, the superstar is donning a uniform again to essay the role of an Army man, Samar, in the yet to be titled movie.
In 1988, his powerful portrayal of Commando Abhimanyu Rai in the TV series, Fauji, virtually launched his acting career. -
Speaking to the media, the actor said he hoped many more Bollywood filmmakers would shoot in Kashmir, which was a favourite location for cinematographers before the state was torn due to militancy in the '90s.

After shooting for the nameless Yash Chopra film in London and Ladakh, Shah Rukh Khan went to shoot in Pahalgam.

SRK, who plays an army officer called Samar in the untitled film, tweeted about how pleased his father would have been with the Kashmir visit: "My father's one unfulfilled wish was to bring me to Kashmir because his mom was from here. Now I am here, it feels I am in his big strong arms."

SRK's presence had also rekindled Bollywood's once-roaring love affair with the Kashmir Valley. SRK tweeted: "How beautiful is Kashmir...how lovely the ppl & silences that can only be Nature's voice. Feel blessed to be here in the land of sufis (sic)."
He also quoted Persian poet Rumi: "Rumi time...'Who could be so lucky? Who comes to a lake for water and sees the reflection of moon.' So apt for Kashmir."

Fans gathered to watch the superstar but were turned away. A large posse of police and paramilitary forces have been deployed around the Aru area in Pahalgam to assure a peaceful stay for SRK, Yash Chopra, his son Aditya, Anushka Sharma and the nearly 100-member crew shooting on location.
After finishing the shoot in Pahalgam, they will head to Srinagar and start filming in the Zabarwan Hills, Dal Lake and Lal Chowk.

The director of the film, Yash Chopra, last captured the Valley on-screen in Amitabh-Rakhee starrer Kabhie Kabhie in 1976. Kashmir was among his favourite locations when he was in his prime as a director. The last film Mr Chopra directed was Veer-Zaara, also starring SRK, in 2004. This will be his first film as director after eight years.

The untitled film which also co-stars Katrina Kaif is slated for a Diwali release and will get a name on Yash Chopra's 80th birthday on September 27.
