Star presenters at the Oscars 2012
Here's a look at the list of star presenters this year's Oscar Awards.
-
Angelina Jolie: The 36-year-old actress who has turned director with In the Land of Blood and Honey will be presenting an award. Jolie bagged the Best Supporting Actress award early in her career for her performance in Girl, Interrupted. She was nominated for Best Actress in 2009 for Changeling.
-
Halle Berry: The former Bond girl also joins the list of star presenters this year. Halle Berry won Best Actress in 2001 for her performance in Monster's Ball, becoming the first African-American actress to do so. Her emotion filled acceptance speech narrowly beats her other famous Oscar moment, the last time she presented an award in 2003, when she was scooped up into an inpromptu and on stage kiss by Best Actor winner Adrien Brody.
-
Tom Cruise: The actor had a big budget release with Mission: Impossibe - Ghost Protocol and another coming up in musical Rock of Ages. He is a three time Oscar nominee - twice nominated for Best Actor in Born On The Fourth Of July and Jerry Maguire, and once for Best Supporting Actor in Magnolia.
-
The Bridesmaids Cast: Rose Byrne, Ellie Kemper, Melissa McCarthy, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Maya Rudolph and Kristen Wiig – from the hit comedy Bridesmaids will be presenters at the awards. This will be their first Oscar show appearance. McCarthy has been nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category.
-
Michael Douglas: Veteran actor Michael Douglas, who is recovering from throat cancer, has been added to the list of presenters at the Oscar ceremony. The 67-year-old is tipped to announce the Best Picture award.
Douglas won Best Actor for his performance in Wall Street in 1987. He also produced One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest which won the Best Picture award in 1975. -
Meryl Streep: Actress Meryl Streep, who has been nominated for the Best Actress Oscar for her work in The Iron Lady, is also going to be one of the presenters at the 84th Academy Awards. This is her 17th Oscar nomination. The Julie & Julia actress, bagged a Supporting Actress Oscar in 1979 for her role in Kramer vs. Kramer and the Best Actress award for Sophie's Choice in 1982.
-
Christian Bale: Last year's Best Supporting Actor for The Fighter will do the honours this year. We were disappointed that Bale chose to show up last year sporting a scruffy beard and looking nothing like his usual suave self. Hopefully this year it will be different.
