The Katy-Russell saga!

Katy-Russell get married: American singer Katy Perry and British comedian Russell Brand are both entertainers in the their own right, but together they are a house on fire. Decked in traditional style, the couple reportedly said 'I do' in the presence of select guests at the Aman-i-Khas resort near the Ranthambhore tiger sanctuary as a priest chanted mantras around the traditional fire.

East meets West: Brand led the marriage procession in a horse, flanked by elephants and camels. It is the same spot where the improved Lothario proposed to the 'Rude Boy' hitmaker this December. To make the wedding a memorable affair, the couple had invited folk musicians and snake charmers to entertain the high profile guests.

According to rumors, not only had Katy covered her whole body with mehndi tattoos, but even Russell was inked for the big day. Sandip Soparrkar and supermodel wife Jesse Randhawa had a performance ready, and famous rapper friend P Diddy was also present to do his bit.

Katy Perry, real name Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, has always been 'One of the Boys'. Raised as a strict Catholic she was not allowed to listen to what her mother called 'secular music'. A typical 'California Girl', she always had the makings of a rebel.

Copycatting her elder sister, she started singing and soon people discovered a real talent. Perry's singing in church attracted the attention of rock veterans from Nashville.

Next Big Thing: Aged 16, she released her first album Katy Hudson. A gospel-rock album, it did not do well. Katy subsequently dropped her surname Hudson as it was "too close to Kate Hudson" and adopted her mother's maiden name Perry.

Not a One-time wonder: Her next, One of the Boys established her as a singer image and brought her to the notice of Material Girl Madonna. Tracks like You're So Gay, Hot N Cold and I Kissed A Girl were unconventional and became a nation-wide rage.

Her latest album Teenage Dream recently released and has been quite a success. The single 'California Gurls' is the fastest rising single from a Capitol Records artist since Bobbie Gentry's 'Ode to Billie Joe'.

She has made a number of cameo appearances on TV shows, including The Young and the Restless, Wildfire and Sesame Street, mainly as herself.

Katy had been a guest judge on both American Idol and X Factor. She even performed Firework live on X Factor, all for her fans!

Known for her unconventional dressing sense, she can give the likes of Lady Gaga a run for their money. With fruits as assessories, this diva takes eye-popping fashion to another level. Inspired by Dominique's Lolita, her fashion is reminiscent of decades of culture mixed in an interesting 'vintage concoction'.

Brand was still relatively unknown but hosting 2008 MTV Video Music Awards was not without controversy. At one point, he said the night "marked the launch of a very new Britney Spears era", He also said, "If there was a female Christ, it's Britney".

Ladies' Man: For his innumerable high-profile relationships, Brand has in his 'honor' an award by The Sun. Having won it not once, not twice, but three times. All in good fun, of course!

At MTV Video Music Awards, host Brand remarked "Katy Perry didn't win an award and she's staying at the same hotel as me, so she's gonna need a shoulder to cry on. So in a way, I'm the real winner tonight." Quite a charmer!!!

After Perry claims she threw a bottle of water at Brand to get his attention and then they went clubbing. What a lovely story!

Brand proposed to Katy while holidaying in India last year and since then there has been excitement in the international media about their plans for a Big Fat Indian wedding.
