  • Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor: Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor's was the wedding of the year. The four day long celebrations included a sangeet, mehendi, a morning registration and evening exchange of vows in Mumbai and then a daawat-e-walima in Delhi. October 16, after much coyness and misdirection on the part of the bride, did turn out to be the red letter day after all. The registered wedding took place at noon in Saif's Bandra apartment and was attended only by family members.

    On the evening of October 16, a grand reception was oprganised at Mumbai's Taj Mahal Palace hotel. Kareena wore Saif's grandmother's traditional gharara for the ceremony. Later, she changed into a burgundy colour embellished gharara with maroon duppatta. Saif wore a Banarasi brocade achkan by designer Raghavendra Rathore. Guests included Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan, Malaika Arora Khan, Karan Johar, Manish Malhotra and many, many Kapoors.

    A Mughal-themed reception or daawat-e-walima was held in New Delhi on October 18. Rahul Gandhi led a power list of guests.

    Saif's children - Sara and Ibrahim - with first wife Amrita Singh, attended all functions.
  • Ram Charan Teja and Upasana Kamineni: Telugu actor and son of superstar Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan Teja married his childhood sweetheart Upasana Kamineni at a grand ceremony in Hyderabad on June 14.

    Their wedding was attended by biggies like Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan and Sridevi.
  • Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D'souza: Bollywood actors Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D'Souza married on February 3, the first big wedding of the year.

    The couple first had a traditional Maharashtrian ceremony and then went on to say 'I Do' at the St Anne's Church, Bandra the next day. They had lavish wedding and pre-wedding functions too.
  • Esha Deol and Bharat Takhtani: Esha Deol married businessman Bharat Takhtani on June 29 in a South Indian style wedding at a temple in Mumbai. Dharmendra and Hema Malini, the parents of the bride, also hosted a grand reception in Mumbai a day later.
  • Sneha and Prasanna: Tamil filmstars and longtime lovebirds Sneha and Prasanna exchanged vows in a traditional wedding ceremony on May 11. The who's who of Southern filmdom, including Suriya and Jyothika, were guests at the wedding.
  • Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel: Justin Timberlake married Jessica Biel in an intimate ceremony near Naples in Italy on October 19. They reportedly flew their guests to Germany first in a desperate bid to keep their wedding location a secret before a private jet took them on to Italy at the last possible moment.

    There were also reports that Justin sang Jessica down the aisle and performed a special dance to It's Gonna Be Me.
  • Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan: Billionaire Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg married girlfriend of nine years, Priscilla Chan, on May 19. Zuckerberg made the wedding announcement by updating his relationship status to 'Married Priscilla Chan.'

    The wedding took place in the backyard of Zuckerberg's home in Palo Alto, California with less than 100 guests who had no idea they were going witness a wedding. Zuckerberg ditched his trademark hoodie for a black suit and tie, while Priscilla wore a Claire Pettibone wedding dress she bought using a fake name.
  • Anne Hathaway and Adam Shulman: Despite proclaiming she'd get married next year, Anne Hathaway quietly exchanged vows with her boyfriend Adam Shulman on September 29.

    The Les Miserables actress wore a gown designed by good friend Valentino and a vintage-style headband over her cropped hair. They invited over 150 family members and friends to the wedding which was held at a private estate in Big Sur, California.
  • Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves: Matthew McConaughey and Brazilian beauty Camila Alves were married at their Texas home on June 9 in a sunset ceremony.

    The weddings guests joined the couple for the weekend, sleeping in luxury tents put up in the grounds of the property, and enjoyed a low-key celebration that included playing lawn games such as beanbag and ring toss, as well as being served beer while lounging in hammocks.
  • Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied: Natalie Portman and her French-born choreographer fiance Benjamin Millepied tied the knot in a Jewish ceremony at a private home near Big Sur in California on August 4.

    Benjamin and Natalie met on the sets of Black Swan and they have a son named Aleph.

    When Natalie won the Best Actress Oscar for Black Swan in 2011, she paid tribute to Benjamin, calling him her "beautiful love" and thanked him for giving her the "most important role of my life".
