Top 10 girls with guns

we look at some of the tough chics who fling their guns at villainous robots, criminals and drug lords with much elan and poise.

  • Women in action movies are more often than not damsels in distress or gangster's molls. But then again, there's Ellen Ripley from Alien and Sarah Connor from the Terminator series. These feisty femmes prove that they can match the men bullet for bullet, and look way hotter doing it.
  • Angelia Jolie: Angie is our top gun slinging chica for the sheer number of action heroine roles she's played. She pulled out the arsenal as Lara Croft in Tomb Raider, a sexy assassin in Wanted and housewife-by-day-hit girl-by-night Jane Smith in Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
  • Uma Thurman: In the unforgettable opening sequence of blood drenched Kill Bill Volume 1, a vengeful Uma Thurman, aka the Bride, goes 'bang bang' with her gun.
  • Lucy Liu: Cameron was the sporty one, Drew was the goofy one, but Lucy was the Angel you really had to watch out for. With fists of fury and guns blazing, this Angel meant business.
  • Linda Hamilton: As Sarah Connor, Linda Hamilton was no ordinary damsel in distress. In Terminator II: Judgement Day , her battle hardened, tough girl persona made Sarah into a cult figure, spawning a whole TV series to herself, The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
  • Demi Moore: Demi's evolution from romantic heroine in Ghost to more abrasive roles in Disclosure came to a head with her turn as as Lieutenant Jordan O'Neill, complete with automatic rifle, in G.I.Jane. That was her last major movie role for a few years but when she came back, it was with the guns out again – as the villainous Madison Lee in Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle.
  • Milla Jovovich: As Alice in the lethal and dystopian wonderland of the Resident Evil series, Milla depends on her trusty revolvers and double barreled shotgun to survive in a world peopled by zombies.
  • Sigourney Weaver: Arguably the first legitimate action heroine, Alien's Ellen Ripley pulled off carrying a gun and being bald better than a lot of men. She occupies pride of place in the world of cult action movies with fellow tough lady, Sarah Connor.
  • Bipasha Basu: In Bollywood, Bipasha, for one, is certainly used to handling guns. She's been armed and dangerous in several movies including Race, Gunaah, Dhoom and Players.
  • Priyanka Chopra: Priyanka pulled a gun like a pro as Roma in Don 2(2011). And make no mistake, guns come naturally to PC – she had some practice in Kaminey.
  • Zeenat Aman: And if Hollywood have Sarah Connor and Ellen Ripley, Bollywood has its original Roma. Zeenat Aman often played 'bold' or ‘Westernized' roles – roles that other heroines of her time shied away from – and the vengeful Roma opposite Amitabh Bachchan in Don (1978) was one such. With her cropped hair and neck scarves, Zeenat looked convincingly ruthless and trigger-happy as she sighted down the barrel of her revolver.
