Top 10 heroes to watch out for in 2013

Our ‘one film per year man' will explore his dark side in Dhoom 3. The star of last year's smash hit Talaash stars as the antagonist in the third installment of the Dhoom series, following in the footsteps of John Abraham and Hrithik Roshan. Katrina Kaif is cast opposite him and Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra reprise their roles of ACP Jai Dixit and Ali. Dhoom 3 is out in December.

  • Salman Khan: Hold on to your seats for two Salman films this year. He stars with his Dabangg heroine Sonakshi Sinha in action-comedy Kick, directed by Sajid Nadiadwala. The film is a remake of 2009 Telugu blockbuster Kick which starred Ravi Teja and Ileana D'Cruz.

    Also coming up this year is Sher Khan, directed by Salman's brother Sohail, which will probably release on Eid. Salman had a superb 2012 with Ek Tha Tiger and Dabangg 2.
  • Shah Rukh Khan: The Baadshah has his hands full this year with Rohit Shetty's Chennai Express which reunites him with his Om Shanti Om co-star Deepika Padukone. He also has Farah Khan's Happy New Year, co-starring Priyanka Chopra, to look forward to. SRK had a blockbuster 2012 with Jab Tak Hai Jaan.
  • Akshay Kumar: Last year was dedicated to action flicks like Khiladi 786 and Rowdy Rathore. This year seems to be special for Akshay Kumar with two thrillers lined up. First up is Special Chabbis with Kajal Aggarwal, a heist drama film directed by Neeraj Pandey. The film also stars Jimmy Shergill, Manoj Bajpai and Anupam Kher in supporting roles. Next in line is a crime drama Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again a sequel to the 2010 hit film Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai. The film also features Sonakshi Sinha, Imran Khan and Sonali Bendre.
  • Ranbir Kapoor: In 2012, Ranbir Kapoor had a sweet treat for us in the form of Barfi! which was also India's official entry to the Oscars. This year, he has three movies out. Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, a rom-com directed by Ayan Mukerji, co-stars ex-girlfriend Deepik Padukone and releases in May. He also stars in two movies directed by the Kashyap brothers - Abhinav Kashyap's Besharam and Anurag Kashyap's Bombay Velvet.
  • Hrithik Roshan: Krrish 3, the third installment in the superhero series, will be Hrithik's entry in the Bollywood register this year. Directed and produced by father Rakesh Roshan, the film also stars Priyanka Chopra, Vivek Oberoi and Kangana Ranaut.
  • Saif Ali Khan: 2013 is shaping up to be a bumper year for Saif. He has four films out this year - Abbas-Mustan's Race 2 co-starring Anil Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Jacqueline Fernandez and Ameesha Patel releases on January 25.

    Next up - Go Goa Gone starring Kunal Khemu, Vir Das, and Puja Gupta; Tigmanshu Dhulia's gangster thriller Bullet Raja co-starring Sonakshi Sinha releases in September; and then Judwaa 2, a sequel to the 1997 hit Salman Khan film, also with Sonakshi.
  • Ajay Devgn: Two hits in 2012 - Son Of Sardaar and Bol Bachchan - might well be followed up with two hits in 2013. This year, Ajay will play Jeetendra's role in the remake of 1983 blockbuster Himmatwala opposite southern siren Tamannaah Bhatia. In Prakash Jha's political thriller Satyagraha, Ajay co-stars with Amitabh Bachchan, Arjun Rampal, Kareena Kapoor, and Manoj Bajpai.
  • Emraan Hashmi: Last year, Emraan shed his serial kisser tag somewhat with the acclaimed Shanghai though he did also churn out Bhatt camp masala movies Jannat 2 and Raaz 3. In June 2013, Emraan stars with Vidya Balan in Ghanchakkar. In April, he will appear in Ek Thi Daayan with Konkana Sen Sharma, Kalki Koechlin and Huma Qureshi.
  • Farhan Akhtar: Known for his out-of-the-box choice of roles, Farhan is gearing up to dazzle as one of India's best loved sporting heroes, athlete Milkha Singh, in biopic Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. The film is being produced and directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and co-stars Sonam Kapoor.
