Turning 32: Sidharth Malhotra, From Student To A Superhero

Bollywood actor Sidharth Malhotra, who made his debut in 2012 is one of the most celebrated actors of his generation. The Ek Villain star has proved to his fans and critics that the best of Sidharth Malhotra has begun. As he celebrates his 32nd birthday today, we take a pictorial look at his Bollywood journey so far.

Sidharth was born on January 16, 1985, in Delhi to former Indian Merchant Navy employee Sunil and homemaker Rimmi Malhotra. Sidharth went to Delhi's Don Bosco School and Naval Public School, and later attended Bhagat Singh College.

At the age of 18, Sidharth began modelling. For about four years, he featured in several photo-shoots and shows.

Sidharth then auditioned for a role in director Anubhav Sinha's film which was later shelved. After that he worked as an assistant director along with Varun Dhawan on Karan Johar's My Name Is Khan (2010).

Two years later, the maverick filmmaker launched Sidharth and Varun along with Alia Bhatt in college-drama-entertainer Student Of The Year. The film was a hit.

Sidharth was then absent from the silver screen for almost two years and returned with actress Parineeti Chopra in Yash Raj Films' rom-com Hasee Toh Phasee. However, the film failed to fetch the actor rave reviews like his debut project.

His next release in 2014, Ek Villain, however earned him the highest of praise. With his excellent performance as the revenge seeking tormented lover, Sidharth won over his critics and audience. The film, produced by Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Films, was directed by Mohit Suri.

In 2015, Sidharth worked in Dharma Productions' Brothers, co-starring actors Akshay Kumar and Jacqueline Fernandez. The emotional roller-coaster will be directed by Karan Malhotra.

Last year, he featured in Kapoor & Sons opposite Alia Bhatt and Fawad Khan. The film was a hit at the box office.

He then starred opposite Katrina Kaif in Baar Baar Dekho. The film's song Kaala Chashma topped the chartbusters.

Sidharth is currently shooting for Reload opposite Jacqueline Fernandez.

Off-screen, Sidharth dated South African model, Nicole Meyer, as was revealed on Koffee With Karan in 2014. However, the long distance relationship did not work out and the couple broke up.

He is rumoured to be dating his Student Of The Year co-star Alia Bhatt. However, both the actors have never admitted it.
