Twinkle, Aamir, Akshay Tickle Mumbai's Funny Bone

The launch of actress-turned-author Twinkle Khanna's first book Mrs Funnybones: She's Just Like You and a Lot Like Me turned out to be not just hilarious but also a rather glittering affair. Bollywood celebrities filled the room on August 18 in Mumbai and on stage, Twinkle was kept company by husband Akshay Kumar, friends Aamir Khan and Karan Johar, and mother Dimple Kapadia who released the book.

Akshay, the copy editor of the family, made a brave attempt at censoring his mother-in-law, who had gone on stage with the stated intention of embarrassing her daughter.

Turns out, Dimple may have ended up embarrassing herself.

Twinkle roped in son Aarav, the subject of several tweets, for a picture.

Twinkle's Chal Mere Bhai co-star Sonali Bendre was in the audience in a long skirt and tucked-in white shirt.

Interior designer Sussanne Khan looked stunning in a black dress.

Swades actress Gayatri Joshi too followed suit.

Jaya Bachchan, seen here with Sussanne and socialite Anu Dewan, confessed to the cameras that she was too serious a person for an event of such mirth.

Speaking about his witty friend, Karan said at the event, "Twinkle sounds like she should be banned already."

Aamir, the Bollywood perfectionist, could not wait to start reading.

Aamir told the audience that Twinkle's talent was insulting people and that she should feature in a film titled Hunterwaali.

Dimple was a veritable force of nature at the launch.
