Vikram, Anushka promote Nanna (Deiva Thirumagal)

Tamil actor Vikram and co-actor Anushka Shetty, whose recent Telugu release Nanna has won rave reviews, are busy with the post- film release promotions.

Vikram, who recently bagged the Best Actor award for his role as Veera in Tamil film Raavanan at the 58th Filmfare Awards South, made a surprise visit to a few theatres in Hyderabad.

Fans were delighted to see their favourite actor with Anushka.

Nanna which released as Deiva Thirumagal in Tamil, is doing excellent business in Tamil Nadu.

According to reports, this is one of the biggest hits in Vikram's career after Aparichitudu.

Anushka looked pretty in a green Sabyasachi floral anarkali.

For her second appearance of the day, Anushka wore another Sabyasachi creation but this time it was a red-bordered teal suit.

Baby Sarah is enjoying all the limelight.

Vikram is a happy man.

Vikram, who impressed with his film Aparichitudu a few years ago, again came up before the Telugu audiences as an immature man/mentally challenged man, who loves his daughter the most and how he craved for that girl, but finally gives her for her bright future.

Though the story is clichéd and such roles have come up on the screen earlier, the indelible impression Vikram leaves in the minds and hearts of audiences is different in this movie.

At the same time, the directorial abilities of Vijay make you to sit tight in the seat all through the second half.

Anu (Anushka) and her friends, who are lawyers, remain jobless with no cases on hand being juniors. At this juncture, they come across Krishna (Vikram) who is in search of his lost child.

After learning that he is mentally challenged, they try to get rid of him. However, noticing the visiting card in his pocket, the police call up Anu to know about him. They find that he came from Ooty where he worked as a helper in a chocolate factory run by one Victor.

Through Victor, Anu finds that a millionaire, who runs a chain of educational institutions in south India, had taken away his daughter. Here comes the flashback.

A millionaire's daughter Prabha, who is interested in social work, falls in love with Krishna and marries him against her father's wishes.

Later, Prabha gives birth to Vennela, but dies. Though a challenged, Krishna showers lots of love on his daughter and brings up Vennela.

After she turns five years, Victor helps Krishna to admit her in a school called Green Valley school, owned by her own grandfather.

Her maternal aunt Divya (Amala Paul) is the correspondent of the school.She comes to know that Vennela is none other than her sister's kid, wanted to take her away by pushing Krishna aside.

However, her father plays a game and takes Krishna and Vennela with him by telling Victor and others that he would take care of them. But in the midway, he pushes Krishna out and takes away Vennela.

Now, it is the turn of Anu to reunite Krishna and Vennela. She meets Vennela's grandfather and pleads with him to unite Vennela with her father but to no avail.

Later, she files a habeas corpus petition in the court. She was forced to face a senior advocate (Nazar) who had 20 years of experience.

How, Anu fought the legal battle? Was she able to unite Vennela and Krishna?

What kind of suffering did Krishna face for his missing child?

How Anu consoled Krishna?

What kind of tricks Anu plays to defeat a senior advocate? Did Krishna take away Vennela with him or leave her with her grandfather and maternal aunt? If so why?

Answers to all these questions form part of the climax.

PLUS:

Vikram's performance as a mentally challenged is the highlight of the film. He did his job with much élan and he proved that he has no comparison with regard to performance.

His body language, histrionics, performance made the audiences spellbound. Anushka's role is quite dignified and she really did it with dignity. Though famed as a glamour doll, she gave excellent performance. She did never cross her limits.

However, the director made use of her glamour in a rain song, of course in a dignified manner without any exposure of glamour.

Another highlight of the film is the impressive narration and screenplay. The first half was devoted to showcase how a challenged brought up a child till she attains five years.

Though a little boring, the progress of the film is interesting. The second half was full of court scenes and the mind game between Anushka and Nazar.

The direction is superb. The dialogues by Sashank Vennelakanti were not so impressive but okay.

MINUS:

The first half of the film appears to be a little stretched and the audiences started moving restlessly in their seats.

The absence of comedy has become another big drawback of the movie.

The director, with the rain song gave an impression that love blossomed in Anushka towards Vikram, but the scene ends there to maintain the dignity of the character.

Music is another drawback. None of the songs are foot tapping and impressive and the re-recording too was poor.

Editing should be a little more crisp.

Watch the film to find the love between a mentally challenged man and a small child.

But for Vikram's performance and Anushka in a dignified role, the film has not much to offer.
