We Found These Pics of the Premiere of Refugee From 15 Years Ago. Enjoy

15 years ago, the JP Dutta-directed Refugee released on June 30, 2000. It featured two star kids making their debuts - Abhishek, the son of Amitabh Bachchan, and Kareena, daughter of Randhir Kapoor. NDTV was at the premiere of the film 15 years ago and we excavated these pictures of the film's young cast as they were then.

Kareena made her Bollywood debut as a young Muslim girl named Nazneen, travelling from the newly-created Bangladesh to Pakistan. She won the Filmfare Award for the Best Female Debut for her performance. She was just shy of 20 at the time.

Abhishek, then 24, played the role of the nameless Refugee who helps Nazneen and her family. He attended the premiere with mother Jaya Bachchan.

Jaya Bachchan was photographed with Abhishek's sister Shweta.

Kareena was photographed in an affectionate moment with father Randhir Kapoor.

It was a proud moment for fathers Amitabh Bachchan and Randhir Kapoor.

Sunil Shetty, who played the role of Mohammad Ashraf in Refugee, was also spotted, dressed in a floral shirt.

Jackie Shroff, who appeared in the role of BSF Officer Raghuvir Singh, was also an invitee at the premiere.

Karan Johar, who made his debut as a director just two years before Refugee with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, also made an appearance.

Actor Akshaye Khanna posed for the cameras with a smile. He later co-starred with both Abhishek and Kareena in the 2003 JP Dutta-directed movie LOC Kargil.

Guests included filmmaker Subhash Ghai, with whom Kareena worked only a year later in Yaadein.

Lyricist Javed Akhtar and music director Anu Malik arrived together at the venue. Though Refugee failed to become the blockbuster hit it was expected to be, its music won the movie two National Film Awards.
