Dum Maro Dum, starring Abhishek Bachchan, Bipasha Basu and Prateik Babbar, has run into controversy after a media professional, Savio Rodrigues filed a PIL in the Goa bench of the Bombay High Court seeking a ban on the release of the movie stating that it portrayed Goa and its people in bad light.

The war of the item gals just took an unexpected turn. The buzz has suddenly shifted from DP's hot bod and steamy moves in Dum Maaro Dum to the ‘crass' and ‘cheap' lyrics of the refurbished version of the 70s cult song.

Claiming actors have no control over the words of a song, Deepika defends her case saying that the song had to be different from the original. She even stated that the response she has received is overwhelming her.

But there's a twist in the tale: despite standing up for the song now, Deepika's first reaction to the explicit lyrics was one of shock. She shot for the item number on the condition that she would be excused from lip syncing the risqué bits. Director Rohan Sippy compromised by having her turn her back to the camera for the lyrics in question.
