Zindagi Kaisi Hai Paheli: Manna Dey's final journey

Prabodh Chandra Dey, who was better known by his stage name Manna Dey, died in a Bangalore hospital in the early hours of Thursday, October 24, morning. He was 94.

His daughter Sumita said today that he finally died of a cardiac arrest.

In this picture, the late legendary singer's body is being taken from the hospital to the cultural centre Ravindra Kalakshetra, where friends and fans can pay their last respects.

Late Manna Dey had been taken to ICU a few days ago to be treated for respiratory illness and renal failure.

He had been in and out of hospital for the last few months and was kept on dialysis in September.

During his tenure in Hindi cinema, Mr Dey sung a string of songs which are numbered among Bollywoods greatest hits.

Some of these include Ek Chatur Naar from Padosan (1968), Ae Meri Zohrajabeen from Waqt (1965) and Aao Twist Kare from Bhoot Bangla (1965).

Mr Dey is survived by his daughters, Shuroma and Sumita.

His wife, Sulochana, died of cancer last year.
